Valima Gift

I know this might sound a bit dumb, but I am invited to a valima party in the next few weeks. I haven’t been to one of these things in ages..

a) does one always take a gift to the valima ?
b) If so, what should I take ?

Re: Valima Gift

yeah I would definately take a gift..or flowers at least....

depending on how close you are to the person getting married or their family....you could take something that the new couple will need for their new house...or you could get them a nice frame set for their wedidng pics....

Re: Valima Gift

something for the house, decoration piece would be good...or some money in a card?

Re: Valima Gift

Since it's after the day of rukhsati, you can take shot gun as a gift to help the groom committ suicide.

Re: Valima Gift

money! no one takes gifts anymore

Re: Valima Gift

:hoonh:

Re: Valima Gift

Its wisest to give money, gifts are good when they are from the gift registry other wise you may end up giving some thing very artistic from your perspective but it may not match the theme they have in mind for their new home.
My cousin in Pakistan ended up with 5 large crystal bowls (the kind u keep dry fruit in) that were indentical!

Re: Valima Gift

dry fruit only? :hoonh:

Re: Valima Gift

Get'em some sort of a decoration piece.

Re: Valima Gift

give em a bottle of baileys

Re: Valima Gift

nah just giv money.

Re: Valima Gift

Read da card some cards says no boxed gifts plz meaning CASH ONLY

Re: Valima Gift

people actually put that on their invitations? why cant they just put it in a nice way, boxed gifts sounds too wierd.

Re: Valima Gift

it says NO BOXED GIFTS PLZ.

which means only $$

Re: Valima Gift

flowers

Re: Valima Gift

who gives flowers as a wedding gift to the hall??

Re: Valima Gift

Bed side lamps, true Pakistani valima gifts.

Re: Valima Gift

I would go to TJ Max or ROSS and find something from their home/decoration section. I recently had to buy a house warming gift for some friends and I found some cool deals & gifts.

Re: Valima Gift

Is it rude to ask for money?

I’d rather get money than something that doesn’t . . . match my taste. At least iwth money, I can get whatever I want. I don’t want to be stuck with 5 glass fruit bowls

Re: Valima Gift

actually on most invitation I’ve seen it say something like this 'bride and groom perfer something (another word for money) gifts. I’m gonna do it, b/c I don’t want to register for gifts, I can buy my stuff.
