I’d rather get money than something that doesn’t . . . match my taste. At least iwth money, I can get whatever I want. I don’t want to be stuck with 5 glass fruit bowls

You can accept presents and always sell it on Ebay or a garage sale. Or better yet, pass it on to someone else.

Yeah but then u risk the giver finding out and getting offended after htey go through so much hassle (or not) for getting you something. At least if u say it up front, it’ll offend em for a minute, and if they decide not to come coz they cant cough up twenty bucks, well screw em…

I know this might sound a bit dumb, but I am invited to a valima party in the next few weeks. I haven’t been to one of these things in ages..

a) does one always take a gift to the valima ?
b) If so, what should I take ?

cash is more practical for the married couple though gift certificates are just as good.
