Valentine's Day Wedding!

hello ladies!

with V-day coming up, I thought it might be fun to see if any of you have had a Valentine’s Day wedding, or if you’re planning one, or if you’re just planning to have that as your theme. What would you wear, how would you decorate, what favours would you give out? Don’t forget to post pictures and design boards of ideas and thoughts on how you’d present a Valentine’s Day wedding!

Or do you just think its cheesy and you’d never go for it?

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

yep i know sum1 whose having a v-day wedding and is this sat will let you know how it turns out!! i personally wouldnt want my wedding on v-day the day has no significance to me!! no offense to anyone who had a or is planning a vday wedding.

my friends is having a v-day themed mehndi on v-day…i will be helping her with decorations (the colors are mostly reds with a little bit of yellow)…there will be a lot of hearts:jano:

iA i will post pics next week.

I think if you do it the right way it won’t look cheesy. Just have to know how to balance.
Although my wedding is not on V day. I am planning on a having a Valentine theme. Mainly because red colors itself is so romantic. My own dress will be red. Bridesmaids will be wearing different shades of pink.

In terms of decor although I still haven’t worked everything in detailed yet, but as centerpieces I am gonna have red heart or square shaped candles in various sizes & scatter hot pink flower petals around them. Stage is the only thing that won’t be read though.
Might also do either ivory chair covers with red or pink sashes or do pink chair covers with red sashes but then that might be too ott.

For favors I am ordering Russel Stover’s candy in heart shaped boxes. Will tie a maroon ribbon on them & attach a tiny thank you note.

Still confused about the cake. I LOVE chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Thinking about adding strawberries though. Don’t wanna make it look tacky but ah man I still have to do a lot of research.

I cant wait to see those pix!!!

Same here Rabia.

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

You know, ever since i first started getting rishtas like at 15 i had always wanted my wedding to be this valentines day. 2/14/09 but, it didnt happen. Inshallah soon though, id have everythign red and hearts. I love valentines day cause it has both my fav. colors -Pink and red :) and includes tons of hearts!!! which i think is beautiful.

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

so what else can symbolise valentine's day besides red, pink, and heart motifs?
how would you make it stand out? and do you think your fiance's would mind since it is quite a girly theme?

i think i'd be inclined to do it in a very modern black and white scheme to keep it fresh.

Flowers & chocolates can also be associated with v day theme too.
As far as my fiance is concerned. Walema is his day. Its gonna be more elegant. Will have a totally different feel to it. I get to go all out because we have 2 days so no worries for me.

Oh & I forgot to mention before, I am also planning to somehow incorporate pomegranate in the menu as part of the Valentine theme. The fruit it self also symbolizes many beautiful things in different cultures.

Re: Valentine’s Day Wedding!

Valentines Day reminds me of heart shaped balloons  they are so cute.

yeah the latex heart shaped balloons… (the kind the had in the movie “Dil To Pagal Hain” in the “Pyar kar”) my birthday is around Valentines day so i have been looking for some for the past couple of years… pink and red ones would be so hot… and maybe white too!

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

Don't most girls who wear red or pink at their wedding have it valentine's day themed anyway (with pink/reds/flowers/chocolates)? :p I'd go all out pink and beige/golden with the decor.. def flowers, and nice chocolates in some of the biddhs.

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

Pink & red is not the norm anymore Sara. The last six weddings I attended only 2 wear wearing red. But you have a point though. Maybe in Pakistan?

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

True say. I wore pink and my decor was blue and purple [not my choice tho!]????

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

Got my point :) Another thing. Bidh is the Punjabi term for Chuwaray right?

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

Yes i believe so.

Also, iv'e noticed pink and white (for both days) seems to be common now. i've seen a couple of girls wear white for one day and pink for the other day... its cute!

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

i wore red on the wedding and pink on my walima :).

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

^ ooh girly when did u get married? Congrats!

Re: Valentine's Day Wedding!

i would dress up as a heart shaped candy box and my husband would have to wear a teddy bear costume , the venue would be decorated with heart shaped balloons and the menu would consist fresh cut red fruits , melon , pomegranate and red grapes . then we would have normal dinner no hearts and red colour there . but for desser it would be strawberry ice cream and lots of candies

Re: Valentine’s Day Wedding!

I don’t think that I would be happy with just white and black Valentine theme. I know Black would pop in but red, pink, gold and some shade of green is how I see a Valentine wedding. Also, instead of hearts, butterflies seem more like my style. Those and flowers.

Doesn’t have pink, gold and green but still…

Cards:

I would love to add a few touches to these:

Wedding Favours in red and/or Gold Organza pouches:

I would love to do thid because sometimes it can take a whole lot of frogs to find a prince. Just like in the fairy tales, one of them wears a 24k gold crown—the rest are a collection of “reject” frogs in amusing positions. LOL! I’ll add a personalized card with a cute saying like, “We’re in love…with you! Thank you for coming.”

Centerpieces:

Flowers for the decor:

Roses, Orchids, Oriental Lilies, Hydrangea, Tulips, Calla Lilies.

Dress:

I am dying to get this one minus the jewellery. I would waer something with Tourmaline. The groom would be in a Gold Sherwani or Off White.

A tradition that I would love to put in: The lighting of the unity candle, most probably after the nikkah when the bride is brought in to sit with the groom.

Also, I would love to give each non-married female guest a single rose as a Valentine’s gesture. I’ll put a fake diamond ring inside of one and whoever gets that one, is the next to get married or something like that.

That is just a rough idea of how I would like to have a Valentine Desi Wedding. Come to think of it, a Valentine Valima sounds equally yummy!
