Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

I meant our own media didn’t do much for portraying soft image of Islam.

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

My analogy is for active restriction against culture invasion. Our society has accepted cultural invasions since centuries from all the invaders. Now its the turn of western culture.

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

They did try and posted hadiths like one person killed by someone is like whole mankind is killed, discussions from religious scholars and fatwas were given against terrorism etc....but the news of 911 overshadowed these efforts.

In some areas of west, Muslims did seminars and rallies but those were not shown by the media.

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

By the way I kept reading VD as venereal disease....any connection between two? :(

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

told you, you wont :D
same people, same reaction on two different actions, but your perception varies as per your own understanding.

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

lols. Its Vascular Disease.

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

people in our society don't show agitation for any kind of invasion including cultural invasion. I think this clarifies my understanding :p

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

Pemra circulated a letter saying it was acting on complaints that celebrating the day
was not in line with “our
religious and cultural
ethos”.

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

yeah, venereal disease is less dangerous than the other one.

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

But media (all channels) did special transmission on this day. No one followed Pemra

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

yeah, bigotry makes ways for more bigotry. There is no action without reaction.

Re: Valentines Day Vs Haya Day

Meh, people can do what they want.

These days (valentines, mothers, etc) aren't religious days. And more importantly, a lot of money can be made off of them. Ergo, their easier to spread.

As for western society, I think you can say anything you want, but you have to give the fact that they do allow other ceremonies/holidays to happen, and at times have made an effort to accommodate/celebrate. You gotta give credit where it's due.
