They did try and posted hadiths like one person killed by someone is like whole mankind is killed, discussions from religious scholars and fatwas were given against terrorism etc…but the news of 911 overshadowed these efforts.
In some areas of west, Muslims did seminars and rallies but those were not shown by the media.
