Why are Uzbeks in Pakistan, of all places? Not in terms of religious fanaticism, etc, but why are they going there in the first place? Is there a line of refugees or something from Uzbekistan going straight into Pakistan? Why not some other country? Ethnically, are they related to Pushtoons, culturally, language, etc?
What is the situation of religious extremism in Uzbekistan?
cuz pakistan along with usa use to love them.
And used to call them mujahideen.
Probably you were too young to remember.
Then we switch side so fast almost no could keep up.
2-they are not related to pashtuns in any way,
They speak farsi.

I know zip about the country and its people.
Bad apples leftover from the Afghan wars. The good ones were all taken back by their countries.
However few of them went burserk and ended up siding with ben laden.
They pretty much stayed in Afghanistan until 2001. Most of these lunatics now in FATA actually showed up immediately after tora bora bombings.
Pakistan (mistakenly) thought that these guys just need a place to stay so let them be.
Most of them had "mehrabs" on their foreheads, and said 5 times prayers. It was heart breaking to kick them out and hand them over to international authorities.
But as they say, it was a big mistake. We should have killed these fanatics right then in 2001. And guess what we are now paying the price.
These Uzbeks have no or little relation to the Mujahidins who fought Ruskies. Instead they are part of the global Jihad network run by the likes of big terror masters like ben ladeen.
It is time to kick these snakes out (or simply kill them). There is no way they can be made useful citizens. They simply deserve the Islamic punishment of head-chopping.
Which Uzbeks are we talking about. The Afghani Uzbeks some of whom came to Pakistan as refugees or the Uzbeks from Uzbekistan who first to Afghanistan as they were members of the Uzbek Islamic movement and then shifted operations to Pakistan.
Afghani uzbeks are not pro-Taliban and I doubt woul dbe doing the things they are doing UNLESS they are trying to destabilise pakistan via RAW/CIA etc. Politically Uzbeks are/were more left wing in Afghanistan than other groups. Dostum is/was a communist/part-time communist. There are no islamic parties within Afghani Uzbeks unless they are very small or support other Afghan groups such as Masood's group.
Uzbeks from Uzbekistan have a movement for Shariah with the government clamping down on them - it is most likely that Uzeks fighting for Shariah will be from Uzbekistan
PCG, an uprising by Muslims in 2005 was cuased, when they had seen enough rule by a “Dictator”. A similiar case like in Pak. But unfortuantely this Dictator had same references like our has. The US of A is his number one ally. Hence he got full permission to open a body count of the extreme on the Islamic student movement. Those so called extremists, where (this time) harmless Muslim fellows seeking for a real democractic state. But Media and US considered them as Muslim radicals and blamed them of building a Islamic state. Which turned out all wrong.
There is a biased Article on this very incident. Have a read: http://www.pluralism.org/news/article.php?id=9629
I think, after 2005 and before many have left their homes and settled down in Pakistan, so that they can practise their religion more freely. I have never heard of Uzbeks and Terrorism (or relations to Suicide Bombings)

Not just Uzbeks, but also Chechens, Tajiks, Afghans, Arabs and an assortment of other foreigners allied to Bin Laden who escaped into the Tribal areas, after the American's bombed them out of Tora Bora in Afghanistan. No country in the world would tolerate foreigners using their territory to plan their terrorist campaings against their home countries.
Afghans and Arabs I understand, but I don't get where the other fit in. Were they just part of the USSR fall out when Russia tried to invade Afghanistan, and these rebels just came along with the Afghans and Arabs that came in after US went into Afghanistan after 911, or are these independent migrations coming from Uzbekistan, etc?
uzbeks are a turkic people that hail from central asia. they are more closer to turks than to persians and pashtuns.
as for alir's lies, uzbeks have a lot in connection to al-qaeda terrorism. islamic movement of uzbekistan is one example, where these scumbags supported my enemy, the taliban back then.
