I mean do ladies still do that back home and why? I’ve seen it so many times in Pakistan. I always had 2 questions to those ladies ..(not that I ever asked).
I understand that you dont have pockets and you dont carry purse everywhere. But why the heck you cant tie the money at the corner of your dupatta.
Do you only keep paper money or coins too.
BTW, it was never erotic, in fact quite odd when you see that in a shop, a lady is pushing her hand inside her bra and pulling out some folded paper money.
It does happen a lot in Pakistan. I've seen it so many times. Most of the times, the lady is of middle to older age and many times from blue collar class.
I think its ease of accessibility … not to mention safe keeping of money (who would reach in there in the middle of bazaar to steal that!) …
knot in duppatta method will require un-knotting at some point and just not as a simple as reach in bra …
and ermmm … coins i don’t think will work (they’d roll into the crevices) … at least I’ve never seen coins being pulled out

see STA culture and film industry are complimentary
meaning somethings shown in movies actually happens in our culture/society they just depict it in theatres
other things some creative minds come up with in movies and then people start following it

Pakistani and Indian women don't try to change their habits even when they live outside Pakistan. I have seen women having such 'respectable' habits even outside Pakistan, and yes seen them storing coins too...
