Used

Re: Used

You guys are misinterpreting this thread:smack:

I do all that whatever you wrote but I just wanted to know out of curiousity if it was the way it should be done! Yes I do change every time I go loo! wow! Talk about making it highly embarrassing!

everyone used to do that before the invention of pads, even the Victorians.

Re: Used

have anyone of you ever used cotton?
i believe it is not an odd question.

Re: Used

Well you all are just making me embarrassed for asking this question for no reason! When people can discuss sex and what not in life 1 and stuff so openly why can't I ask about a genuine concern! Jeez lol

Not only that but given that there is no proper disposal of waste in Pakistan and that most of the waste ends up in dumps where poor people live, reusable cotton sanitary towels and also nappies are a far more ethical way to live.

Much easier to implement too as most people have servants who can wash them daily and with the proper rigorous method.

Re: Used

^so true.

Re: Used

^some things about Pakistan (I should say people, really) make me so mad.
so there's no electricity and you need it 24/7 for your AC, TVs, computers etc etc, so you install a generator or two. ever heard of solar power??

discussing a situation or things that are happening around us (in life1) is different than discussing things related to natural bodily functions (menstruation). There needs to be a limit, else what...nxt thread will be "how do u clean up after a bowel movement."?

Re: Used

^lol :cb:

Re: Used

Yeh why not, lets discuss all the anatomy and biology right here since it is health and fitness forum.

Re: Used

Ok you know what, I am saddened to know that apart from few people who managed to answer my question in a sensible manner, the rest just laughed at me and my question. There is nothing wrong in this question, nothing at all. Anyways if this is the way you want it then I REQUEST the health forum mods to please move this thread to RF.

I only asked one Question, and this is what happens. Anyways, Binte was kind enough to answer and some other people. I got my answers. Show is over folks.

Sadly, many poor girls in 3rd world countries drop out of school when they start menstruating simply because they cannot afford the disposable pads. The disposable pads are expensive and many a time there are collections from well wishers and charity organizations and NGOs to send them sanitary pads. So they can at least use them during school hours.

Re: Used

Aisha i’m not having a go at you but maybe certain people here were slightly offended by your question here because you could’ve discussed this with your mom maybe? Maybe it’s a bit immature when a 21 year old asks these questions considering she started her periods ages ago? :hmmm:

Re: Used

Could be possible. Sighhh

Titli I am not going to go in to the specifics here and give fodder to people to chew on but the thing is I did ask my mom and she did not really give me an answer that I was looking for and thought no harm in asking this on GS. Did not know aisa drama create hojayega.

Re: Used

Pagal to msn pe pochti kisi guppan ya kisi aur friend se. Silly :smilestar:

Re: Used

Ya I thought of that late:cb: after all this drama had created one very niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and sweet guppan managed to answer me and also laugh at the situation with me on MSN:cb:…

yeh man am so silly lol

You change it according to your flow. So I guess for me it's usually every 2 hours when it's heavy and towards the end of my period, it's every 3 hours or so. Ofcourse at night it's longer so you can use a longer/thicker pad. I use tampons as well and those i change quite frequently but with working out those are the most comfortable. With the tampons you can just flush them down the toilet. With the pads you can wrap them with the plastic wrapping they come in(usually they just stick to the glue of the pad) or you can just wrap them again in some bathroom tissue. You can toss it in a different trash bin if you dont want someone seeing it in the bathroom:)

And the washing of the cloth thing. People still do that in my village, it's not a matter of being from a "lower class." It's just that living in the village it's hard to get pads and what not. Forget about pads, you're lucky if you get pre-packaged food. It's not a matter of being from a lower class but of where in pakistan you live. My family for example is well off but my aunts still do this. However, they don't wash it but instead just burn the dirty one. They also do it because the place where all the garbage is disposed is frequently looked by searched by children and even men looking for clothes and what not. They don't want them having to step on it and wondering what the hell it is. Not to mention, having men seeing it is quite disgraceful in their sense and i respect them for that:)

Re: Used

Usually, the packages will have instructions on how to dispose of sanitary napkins.

Re: Used

Always keep some platic/paper bags in your bathroom along with your pack of samitary napkins. Just dispose off by wrapping in the wrapper of a new one or in some toilet paper, then put in bag and the trash.

Haha! Good one.

Ladies first of all pardon me for my lack of knowledge but I don't think there is anything to be offended of. Maybe I phrased it wrong & shouldn't have written "lower class" but hey there, that doesn't mean I am making a mockery out of Pakistani people. I am a Pakistani myself. I heard something & found it peculiar & mentioned it here.

Other than that letting a servant wash your stained "towels". That's just so wrong in so many senses. Degrading, disgusting & wrong use of authority.

Person who mentioned there are charity organizations that collect stuff like this. If you have any more info. on that do share it here. I am sure many of us ladies would love to donate if possible.
