US do what they want or which is beneficial to their own interest.
As it is clear in Bush's India visit that now US is looking to get some breathing space and bigger Pie in India's market and indian economic boom.Bush say it at least 20 times in this visit about Indian growing middle class, elite class ,international trade, retail and insurance sector ,etc. He asked for more open economy and talk about Indian's in US.
India should be careful about uncle Sam's intention.:(
Of course it must be India - but in that case, why not say so? Is it
possible that the Bush Administration wants something from India? Yes,
it does. It wants India to become the South Asian anchor of its
strategy for “containing” China militarily
to cope with the rise of China to great-power status". They want to
encircle China with a ring of American allies in a reprise of the US
containment strategy against the Soviet Union in the 50s and 60s. In
this strategy India is the main prize
I dont think that the Indians will fall for this. The US is clearly setting up the Indians to fight with China. India has always had a fairly independant foreign policy, Im not sure they will fall for the American trap.
In fact I suspect the Americans will try to negotiate an end to the Kashmir issue so the Indians can move on to challenge the Chinese instead of being tied up in regional issues in South Asia
No genious. Read between the lines. This deal is clearly an attempt by the Americans to maneouver the Indians as their proxy against China
I mean to say that Indian foreign policy is unlikely to go in the direction US wants
bush didn't exactly keep this a secret did he? he said he wants the gigantic Indian market. We have strength in numbers, that's a lot of cars and tvs. plus I'm sure you guys know what he meant by "2 different histories" re nuclear proliferation. AQK made this easy for India.
The international politics goes beyond parties and individuals. Hence its not only about Manmohan Singh.
India needs the deal since it needs nuclear power to power growth, Oil bill is really getting a bigger and bigger burden. Manmohan Singh being ex RBI governor and Finance minister understands that. There is already strategic plan to get 25% of power need from nuclear energy. Where do we get fuel from for that with nobody providing that without signing NPT. Hence this is great way out for India, NO signing NPT and still getting fuel for its nuclear reactors..... (even most vocal opponent Australia, seems to be saying yes for that during this week)...
For doing this Uncle Sam will ask for part of the pie (growth).. for sure....
as well bully against China is in my understanding is again based more on econmonics, since US economy is becoming more and more dependent on Chinese imports, sure US will like to see that reduce as well...
On wrong foot Indian democratic system also gives them a chance to manipulate it a bit for US interests (before you guys jump, I mean lobbying - that happens in any system based on votes - including US Congress).
So over all win win at this time.
The deal is already signed and delivered.. its just a mater of time.. Besides beggers cannot be chosers. India was in bed with USSR and America is far richer then teh evil empire.
India did essentially need civil-nuclear cooperation with the US for its energy requirements, but the deal it sealed during President George Bush’s visit has instead capped New Delhi’s deterrence capabilities, former national security advisor Brajesh Mishra has said. “All I am saying is that the availability of fissile material has been curtailed,” Mishra said in an interview to CNBC for its India Tonight programme. The India-US agreement requires New Delhi to put two-thirds of its 22 nuclear reactors, as against six at present, under international safeguards, a phenomenon he feared could reduce fissile availability for nuclear deterrence.
Also, he said the government was required to plan its response to future threats afresh in the light of the new deal. “We have a no-first-use (nuclear) doctrine, which means the response to any nuclear, chemical attack has to be massive,” he remarked and nodded when asked if he believed the pact would impact India’s response to such a situtation. Mishra, who was the national security advisor in the National Democratic Alliance government, however, praised the ruling United Progressive Alliance for the progress in relations with the US. “I hope there is a shift (in ties with Washington) and hope it is moving forward,” he said. On the whole, he described the nuclear deal as key to India’s energy requirements. “We should understand that international cooperation in our civil-nuclear energy cooperation programme is essential. It was necessary. We can’t get away with it,” Mishra said.
He did nothing wrong. He did exactly what the US did with India. The Pakistani Govt sold nuclear technology to Iran. The US sold nuclear technology to India. Whats the difference? Well the difference my friend are those colored glasses you wear.
Did your abdul quadir khan came and told u that paki sold nuclear technology to iran??? Isn’t it possible nukes might have directly gone to iran from china…:halo: :halo: :halo:
what can anybody say bt us selling nukes to india.. usa is founder member of NPT my friend. do you mean they voilate NPT??
US and UK supplied Israel for its nukes programs but I don't see any outcry?
The point of the matter is that US and its fundo influenced rulers have declared a covert war on Islam.
Even the stupidest and most leftist person can see that.
don't worry rest assured India plays its card pretty wel and it fully knos it's business no charity .......henry kissinger didn't call indira gandhi and her administration cunning for no reason...recently clinton/buch adminstartion got a taste of vajpayee adminstartion's barganing capability ala brajesh mishra...they expected india to roll down on carpet like pakistan ....well we don't bend that way....... nothing to worry when u are urself strong and are not dependent on debt reschduling u can negotiate from position of strength
