What do you mean India doesn't need to test anymore? Any nuclear nation needs to test to develop more weapons. Are you saying India (or any country for that matter) should just abandon their weapon programs?

You can diss whatever political parties you're against but that does not make everything they say WRONG. I don't know enough about these parties but I know for sure that they're right at saying India IS compromising it's nuclear program. But yes, they probably are exaggerating their 'opposition' to this deal just because they are the 'opposition' (one of the few perils of democracy).

Anyway, I never said acquiring US help for civilian nuclear technology is WRONG and India should concentrate on getting fuel from Iran. India should definitely try to have such a deal with USA, AUS and the rest to use their thorium but that should not come at he expense of their nuclear defense program.

Just like Reza pointed out, the big 5 powers test all the time yet they bully everyone else into not doing anything which is totally retarded of them. The Upcoming powers should oppose this and negotiate their position better.

the nuclear deal will help accomplish the following:

  1. how many of us in India hv problem with electricity. coming from a suburb in Mumbai, i know that we dont hv electricity about 8 hrs a week. In summer, we had no water and electricity for apprx 20hrs a week, bcz downtown mumbai needed electricy. This can be reduced with the nuk deal. the common man is going to benefit from this deal.

  2. with outsourcing at its peak, if we dont catch up with our infrastructure, we will lose to competition from neighbours who already hv better infrastructure. Nuk deal will help power these new projects for infrastructure.

  3. We are not losing anything with this nuk deal. Worst come senario, we test nuk and we lose tech from US,** which we anyway did not have.**

  4. this will help better the relationship with US. which means more goodies.

ppl dying with hunger, diseases and failed infrastructure is a bigger problem, than implications of testing nukes. All those who r opposing hv enough money and comfort for their 3 generations, so they dont hv to worry.

My suspicion is right. India commies are playing a proxy game on behalf of China ! These morons are trying to sabotage the deal on behalf of China

“I don’t think you see advanced nuclear countries around the world testing. And certainly we don’t encourage other states to do that. All of that understood, India is a sovereign country,” State department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing, amid continuing furore in India over the US-India Nuclear Agreement.

McCormack insisted that the provisions in the 123 agreement provided the US president “options” in acting in the event that there is a test, but, he said “the whole issue is India is sovereign.”

Significantly, McCormack only referred to the executive options under the 123 Agreement, and not the Hyde Act mandated sanctions that many in India fear will prevail in the event of a nuclear test.

“But we are not – you know, we’re not encouraging any states to test at this point,” he added.

The conciliatory US remarks is evidently aimed at providing some breathing space for the UPA government that has been under attack from its communist allies and the opposition BJP, both charging it with compromising India’s freedom to conduct nuclear tests.

On Tuesday, Presidential spokeswoman Dana Perino had told reporters in Crawford, Texas, that the White House was examining how best it can support Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in his domestic battle to explain the nuclear deal.

The United States would never give any country any technology, let alone nuclear unless there was some strategic/military benefit for itself. Whatever soothing words are now given to help the beleagured Indian PM are because America wants India to pass this agreement, but the facts remain the same - India has compromised on it's nuclear programme.

First of all, there will NEVER EVER be a nuclear war between India and Pakistan

All the political hawks who lived through the partition are nearing the end of their political and military careers such as the idiot Vajpayee who tested the nukes in 1998 prompting Pakistan to do the same...

So, there is not going to be any Nuclear War between India and Pakistan

And which country is going to attack India? China won't, nor will Pakistan.

Pakistan, India and China are much too interested in their economic development to start building nuclear weapons to attack each other.

China and USA could have a confrontation over Taiwan, or China and North Korea vs South Korea and USA, etc....

But when it comes to China-India-Pakistan, there is no need to worry.

Mercenary, I think you are wrong about not having an india pakistan war in the future. Only america is preventing that now as otherwise, there is too much emotionalism in the region where issues get sidetracked very easily. A North vs. South Korea war has as much chance as an indopak war. China will retake taiwan at its due time and I don't know what US will do since even now, China can just wipe out the island defenses with a barrage of missile attacks and then invade with thousands of troops but chinese are very cunning and don't want to alienate taiwanese and get hundreds of casualties in the process. Even the US hasn't armed the taiwanese that much considering that they were giving 200 amraams in one deal to the taiwanese and it dawned on the taiwanese that they might end up having more jets than missiles as many of these missiles will be used for test-firing purposes..

As for Taiwan. The Taiwanese Military is very very powerful. And any invasion of Taiwan means the Chinese naval flotilla sail for 13 hours before reaching their target, plenty of time to alert the Taiwanese and prompt US Cargo planes to land Anti-ship missiles and other weaponry that will defeat this invasion force

ANd didn't you read my earlier post? China will do a 'shock and awe' on taiwan before it ever lands forces. Even america did not land forces off the bat in iraq where there is a huge difference between the powerful american and sanctioned-proned iraqi armed forces.

As for indopak wars, read up on the US role in the 2002 conflict. Yaar, seriously you should stick to pakistani are aryans, i am gora threads along with moin! :D

Okay, its 'War on Jihadi Terrorism'.

India, USA and Pakistan all have a common problem (Jihadi Terrorism) and hence its logical for USA to support India. Also, in the last 2 years there has been a tremendous increase in military cooperation between India and USA (military and naval exercises). It only makes sense.

I'm not saying India will attack China if USA tells her to. I'm just saying it makes sense for USA to strengthen India to balance China's growth, for a balance of power in Asia.
