to reverse engineer any machine, u will have to dismantle them first. How can u reverse engineer a nuclear reactor which is under continuous IAEA inspections?...so, it is not possible.
Moreover, we should never resort to such means even if it was possible and then break the trust with US, france, russia and other suppliers. Pay them, and get the technology.
ssingh, i said reverse engineer the technology not the reactors. if i am not wrong, US will give us the technology..not just reactors.
otherwise also, indians have the five decades of experience in the nuclear technology and we have developed our own reactors too ( may be with foreign spares). it won't take indian scientist to develop their own with the master piece in hand.
forget about trust. Even US knows the above fact. assistance from US is just shortening the duration the Indians take to develop the nuclear reactor generation commercially viable electricity. Even if amerikans don't assist india, indians will develop it one day or other. US just want india to be on her side in world politics specially because of her influence in third world, matured democracy and growing economic power and........................balance her with heavy weight china ( who is not so reliable as per US)
otherwise why do u think US is interested in this deal??
