What do you mean by War on "Jihad"? Everyone else calls it War on "Terror". What Qaeda does is terrorism, not Jihad.

Countering China? Both Bharatis and Chinese are not stupid to be dictated by Americans. Bharatis are not going to play on American tunes. Americans are troubled due to rising Chinese economy. Same will be true for Americans in case of Bharatis.
Okay, its 'War on Jihadi Terrorism'.
India, USA and Pakistan all have a common problem (Jihadi Terrorism) and hence its logical for USA to support India. Also, in the last 2 years there has been a tremendous increase in military cooperation between India and USA (military and naval exercises). It only makes sense.
I'm not saying India will attack China if USA tells her to. I'm just saying it makes sense for USA to strengthen India to balance China's growth, for a balance of power in Asia.
