US Student Visa

SO i applied for my F-1 visa. I had my interview on the 23rd of July .. everythn went well till de lady asked me for proof of ma fathers monthly income. I cudnt present it so she got all pissed off and tol me to send in proof of his mthly income, business docs and brochures. My dad has a yearly income..hes got specific shares in de company and he gets that much percentage of w/e yearly profit the company makes. Plus, he gets a fixed amt monthly-which is only for running the house. So i sent them, a letter from the chief Exec explaining all this, proof of his shares, his tax returns and personal bank statements (I did show her those at the time of the interview 2), the companys bank statements and balance sheets showing de profit for 2006, bank statement showing that fixed amt being transfered to dads account every month, companys memorandum and articles of association and a few brochures. do u think thats enuff ?! will I get ma visa?? They didnt ask for proof of assets, shud I have sent those 2??

Re: US Student Visa

oh btw, I was rejected a visit visa in early O3 wid my family on the grounds that we hadnt travelled enuff together (weird since we vacationed abroad every yr). And de interviewer did ask me this question.

Re: US Student Visa

I think that you will get your visa. Lack of information is not the reason of rejecting somneone, so even if they need more proof, they will ask for it.

When I went through my F1 visa interview, I was passing him only the information he was asking for. Nothing more than that.

Give us a good NEWS, soon.

Re: US Student Visa

Well! i was rejected US student visa twice, the consular/interviewer was so mean to me, the first time he rejected on ground that i do not have strong ties in my homeland, i was so frustrated as i had many hopes n dreams. I did'nt give up and re-applied (yeah i had to start from scratch again like getting my F-1 form, documents n stuff from the university), but i was rejected again and this time on grounds that i can do the same course in my homeland and there is no need for me to go to states. But i still did'nt give up, im planning to re-apply perhaps next year or so.

but i know only those nationz stand out which do the real STRUGGLE. (see japan after WW2)

Re: US Student Visa

Americans are acting like a$$**les when it comes to student visas.

A few of of my friends nearly had there careers spun around bcz of US student visa mess, and two of them couldn't finish their degrees.

wel... Good luck with your Visa, but at the same time explore other options as well, like Canada, UK etc.

Re: US Student Visa

Best of luck!!!

Do let us know of the outcome! :)

Re: US Student Visa

thats why the advise to everyone should be to definitely finish the degrees in the time period allowed. e.g. if you dont finish your undergrad in 4 years and need an extension in visa then you are putting yourself at risk.

Re: US Student Visa

^The student visa is usually given for 5 years for undergrad and if someone can't finish the bachelor in 5 years, they are definitely at risk of being kicked out of the country!

Re: US Student Visa

they are bluffing when they say you do not have strong ties to your country, you can do the same course at home etc.

dat ke bolo lady it is my future, I know what I am doing and I love my country, family...you don't have to tell me that...

They will give you the visa...

Re: US Student Visa

Is this something new? I thought the rich lazy kids would come here on student visas to tier 4 universities and just live it up spending daddy's money, partying and what not.

Re: US Student Visa

TDW.. yeah thats why you get one extra year to make up for that partying :-p

Besides that, those rich lazy kids dun need student visa to come here, they can always get the visit visa without any problems!!!

Most of the international students that I know did finish their degree and then applied for H1 or just headed back to Pakistan to land in a well paid job!!

Re: US Student Visa

Just go to Canada.

Re: US Student Visa

when I applied for my student visa..in Pakistan, they told me that I could do the same courses in UK, and they did nto see why I wanted to go to the US. I was ready with the answer that teh programs I was interested were more advanced in US and there was more cutting edge work being done. Uk was behind in the arena and for me to get a US education meant that I would offer a different perspective to my future employers in the UK.

he was okay with that. he did note that while I was talking about cutting edge technology and education. my performance in highschool was not so stellar. My response was that I have learnt from my mistakes and did significantly better in year 12 versus year 11, which is evident in my grades. He bought that as well.

but teh experience of applying for visa in Pakistan was so bad that niether my siblings, nor I (for my masters) applied in Pakistan again.

For Uk citizens, the process of applyign for visa pre 9/11 was very simple, drop your i-20, passport and bank statement etc at the embassy, you will get your visa in 3 days. they may ahve changed it after 9/11.

Re: US Student Visa

I got lucky when I got my U.S F1 student visa from U.S Consulate in Karachi. This was back in November 1993. The guy taking the interview was a very young gora. He didn't ask me a single question. He wanted to look at my educational papers (marksheets, etc) and I handed him the whole file. He glanced through it and ask me to come back in the afternoon to get the passport back.

Re: US Student Visa

ahh i remember when i got the visa...back in 2001..it was great since i wasn't even asked for the interview..just had to collect the passport with the visa :---)

i would suggest to provide with as much documentation as possible and it organize it nicely
