USA has a lot of options in dealing with Iran.
They are not going to send ground forces for an invasion but instead commence Air and Naval bombardment to decimate Iran.
USA has the world's largest Air Force, Naval Forces and they can destroy Iran's Military in a matter of days.
Iran's Nuclear Facilites can be taken out in 1 week at most.
Using bunker buster bombs, Daisy Cutters and MOAB.
But USA is not going to attack Iran and especially now.
USA is scouting potential targets for any future attack.

Nowadays the top priority for USA is to secure their oil supplies within a highly competitive market…the biggest enemy of USA is China…BUT as China is tooo big to swallow…or even confront:D…they are turning around the problem by attacking oil producing countries under falacious claims;)…and mister dumbo is very suitable for the job…see how clever are americans…evil, but very clever:halo:
in the future, when americans will have tapped far too much in their fossil water ressources (20 years or so)..they’ll realise that their peacefull large neighbor (canada) has plenty of it…but as they won’t wanna put too much money in the deal (especially cause china or india will have made them poorer)…attacking will be less expensive…provided canada stay as armyless as it is today:clown:
hmmm sorry i missed your point…were you suggesting to invade canada for unconventional oil ressources…well as cheaper oil is still in the gulf..america first want to use it…later they will need canadian bad quality oil+ their water

Ahem, if you think Al-Qaida is bad for USA, anyone who invades canada will face targeted high ranking killings. our special ops are the best in the world, canadian special ops were the first in afghanistan and are the only teams currently in Iran.

Oh bubba don't fret too much about Iraq. Iraqis were unable to get rid of Sad-Damn, So USA did it for them.
Now it is up to Iraqis to figure out what they want to do to themselves. They can either bomb themselves to death or form a decent government.
From USA point of view, it is a win win situation. If Iraqis kill each other, there will be less and less to worry about. On the other hand if good people like Sistani succeed, hey they will at least quit sending money to the terrorists around the world.

The lesson Fret is that the U.S. with relative ease can topple foreign governments through force. Now the aftermath of such acts is what you're focusing on which as you point out with Iraq has been less than a success in terms of what the U.S. had hoped for. So the U.S. needs to weigh the effects of no action to the after effects of action. We should all hope that diplomacy can find the solution but I sincerely question if either countries leadership wants a peaceful solution as I find them to be both irrational which makes this issue that much more dangerous and deadly.

Saddam maintained security and order in Iraq. The US can’t control an area the size of a city block. Looks like the Insurgents will have to show the terrorrists how to control a country.

We know how saddam maintained security. Brutality is not something to boast about. However, USA only undid what they were partly responsible for. The ppl that saddam mass murdered, did so with the support and arms of the USA. How they are trying to come as saviours now is beyond anyone.
Secondly, an attack on Iran is not likely, not with neighbouring Iraq being unstable and with shia majority. It is trying to builds it case however, just like it did a decade or two ago, with Iraq. However, sanctions are not something iranians are unfamiliar with. It is infact what made them stand on their own two feets and has made them much stronger than they would have been without any sanctions at all.
