US Special Forces training Pakistani Troops

Re: US Special Forces training Pakistani Troops

I dont see the problem here, Armies traditionally dont fight insurgencies, they fight other armies. If the US has some insight, as im sure they do, from their experience in Iraq, then Pakistan should be more then willing to listen.

2nd adventure (Iraq) is really no excuse, US always have "satellite" to monitor any movement in/out of Pakistan. They can track Mullah Omar running away on a motorcycle in mountains so why can't they track arms/ammo movement by Taliban insurgency in/out of Pakistan. Taliban didn't pickup steam after a lapse of few years, US/coalition never had full control of Afghanistan in 7 years.

In case you didn't read related articles, ever since drone attacks in Pakistan picked up pace militants have moved from Iraq and other parts of Afghanistan towards Pak-Afg border, thats why insurgency in Iraq has faded. I agree drone attacks have probably killed some legitimate targets but then that is not this "special training" will be for, US will not be handing over drones to Pakistan to fight against Taliban/AlQaida.

Pakistanis get army training from the USA and win financial rewards

Indians get movie making training from the USA and win hollywood awards.

Each country gets what it longs for.

I think you give US technology to much credit. From my understanding, the Bush administration completely ignored Afghanistan and focused solely on Iraq.
As for the Arms, im really trying to figure that one out myself. The Army should be able to crack that nut, but apparently not.
The US did have control along with the N Alliance following the defeat of the Taliban. It was only after they crossed into Pak and regrouped that they posed a risk, and that took a number of years, as it was only recently that the US turned it attention to the rising number of attacks in Afghanistan. Thats when the drone strikes started.

The drone attacks may have attracted terrorists to this side of the globe, but who cares... Once they get here, its only a matter of time before they are killed to.
You can also interpret the drop to succesful US strategy in Iraq.

And regardless, the US succesful or not, has more experience in dealing insurgency issues then Pak... So if Pakistan wants to be succesful, they will have to get help where ever its available.

Re: US Special Forces training Pakistani Troops

And this isnt the first time US has trained PAKISTANIS. Everyone from Naval captains to Army captains have been in the US for some kind of training or other.

Wine!!! apni wine chor kar listen to Mercy :aj: US and Indian Soldiers never surrendered to terrorists in their history, but on the other side Pakistani soldiers surrendered 1000 soldiers within a year, is this their new fashion or they wanna make world record? :CareBear:

OK let me give you this other fact, The most number of Suicides conducted in the World Armies.

 1. India (bcoz some times they come into sense & realize what they have done in Kashmir) ... Now is this is new Fashion or you guys just wanna make a new record.

Re: US Special Forces training Pakistani Troops

Mercenary2k Bhai , US and British soldiers deployed outside Kabul are so Thakkar that they cannot even control the Taliban main provinces like Kunnar , Kandhar , Badkahshan etc and even not Poppy cultivation , in KAbul insurgency is lowest but outside Kabul , almost on every part , there is virtual rule of Talibans and war lords

Again, US/coalition never had full control of Afghanistan. The only parts they were in full control were the NA controlled and Kabul. Taliban never completely gave up Afghanistan, only those who were on the eastern side fled into FATA and/or mixedup in local populations which supported them immediately following aerial bombing. US had to blame Pakistan for failures for face-saving.

The credit to US technology is not more than they deserve, they can point out nuclear reactors in a country even if it doesn't exist :D

Re: US Special Forces training Pakistani Troops

Well this not something new. in 1980 Israel and American trained Jamiat Islami Jihadi to find Soviet Union.

We are not talking about general army training, instead a speacialty training of fighting 'guerillas'. I wouldn't have a problem with US training Pakistani forces but then you don't want to be trained by someone who is no where near 'good' himself (what to say of 'expert'). Its like Zimbabwe sending a coach for Pakistani cricket team :D

..and they are not best trained in the world? 70% of Afghanistan is in under Taliban rule, a quick Google search would be helpful !
FYI, if Pakistan stopped supporting the war on terrorism, then pakistani territory which is hosting these militants would be bombed by B-52 bombers and not little drone attacks. All of FATA would be fair game.
You are funny, lets move on. Just one line: USA is doing drone attacks with the permission of Pakistan state.
1,000 times better...
USA has lost like 600 soldiers in Afghanistan after fighting for more than 7 years where as Pakistan has lost over 3,000 in 4 years of fighting and that with repeated truces...
How many US soldiers have surrendered ? 0
How many Pakistani Soldiers have surrendered? 1,000
Yes US soldiers are the best in the world, that's why 8 years in Afghanistan with half of the western countries forces, and all the resources availability they can ask, still they can't control it. Bravo !

Total US Army casualties : 640 (US Gov Figure) now add rest of the collation and do the math !

Again, FC is commanded by Major General, its like a Military police kind a force, not even trained like Soldiers, they use light ammunation, it was President Musharraf who start equiping them with heavry artillery so please stop comparing FC with regular Army, give them some time !

Please get a grip
you sound like a 10 year old kid who has watched too many Pakistani Army commericals and are incapable of separating truth from fiction
Stop watching Hollywood flicks, it will help you alot. Ground realities are always different, Afghainstan has the history of destroying so-called world powers. Indeed time has come to USA too, its already becoming Graveyard of western technologies, is it not?

Controlling a country is never purely a military issue. You always need viceroys / mayors like Karazai to provide the political muscle. Failure to bring peace in Afghanistan must be viewed with some additional measures. And one measure is that "Afghanistan cannot be controlled by Afghanis". Sometimes sadly one thinks that even God has forsaken this miserable land.

Add another factor of porous borders of Afghanistan and you got the most vicious cocktail of instability for this hapless country called Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan.

May God help us, and the USA to cure this cancer in our neighborhood.

Deir aye durussat` aye !

We Pakistani’s always underestimated Hammad Karzai, i would recommend to read the first 5 pages of “Descent into Chaos” by Ahmed Rashid, Hammad Karazai is a very strong leader with a backing of many Afghani’s tribe. Some excerpts from the book regarding hammad Karzai:

US/UK forces are fighting outside their countries in relatively small numbers, Taliban have not been able to kick them out of Afghanistan, and they have conquered Iraq.

Pakistan Army cannot even hold ground in their own country. Thousands dead, thousands wounded.

Time for Pak Generals to forget about plots, money, politics, and try being professional soldiers for once.

Shame on them, Pakistan deserves better than these corrupt and unprofessional generals:jhanda:

yes. he is strong due to tribal support AND troops from NATO and USA. May Allah make him even stronger and give him Aqal to navigate Afghanistan out of the terrible situation.

Re: US Special Forces training Pakistani Troops

Problem with Karzai is not Afganistan but Jamait Islami. People in Pakistan who have problem like installation of corrupt chief Justice. Are acutally supporter of Jamait Ismaili who never accepted Pakistan because they want caliphat return. And we should know who are JI supporter in media Jung Group, and Aaj Tv are big supporter of JI.

I never said that Afghanistan was ever under NATO control

But what I am saying is that we can use all the help we can get. Pakistani Army needs heavy re-training. We are designed for conventional warfare with India. These Taliban and Al Qaeda animals have killed more Pakistanis than India during the 1965 War.

These guys are a threat and we need to learn counter-insurgency tactics, etc.

So that the next time 400 of our soldiers will not get ambushed and surrender in mass like they did.

I am not sure where you are getting Israel from.

Israel was bogged down in fighting in Lebanon so why would they be training Pakistani Mujahadeen to fight Soviets.

Also, Mujahadeen hate the Israelis, so why would they take help from them?

It was USA that help train the Mujahdeen to fight.

China did the same thing in Vietnam, training the Viet Cong and NVA to fight Americans. And then Vietnam and China fought a bloody war in 1979 in which 100,000 Chinese troops were killed.

Mercenary2k Bhai , let it write in your diary or anywhere else for a record that

Nobody can Defeat Afghanis

All these NATO and US would shamelessly be kicked out eventually

Alexander the Great, 2 times British,Russians and now its turn of US

Cheers and enjoy
