I hope Zardari should work hard to get this status. This will be great service to Pakistan by PPP government if Pakistan is included in G-20 countries.
**WASHINGTON: The United States should seek Pakistan’s membership or at least observer status in major international forums, such as the Group of Twenty, a US task force recommended on Friday. **
The panel – led by Richard Armitage and Samuel Berger, top aides to former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton – notes that Pakistan’s presence in such groups would enable it “to connect with new power structures and familiarise it with emerging norms and responsible international behaviour”.
In a report released on Friday, the task force, which enjoys support of the administration, endorses the Obama administration’s effort to cultivate cooperation with Pakistan as the best way to “secure vital US interests in the short, medium, and long run”.
It recommends that this approach should include significant investments in Pakistan’s own stability, particularly after this summer’s floods. But in order for US assistance to be effective over the long-term, Washington must make clear that it “expects Pakistan to make a sustained effort to undermine Pakistan-based terrorist organisations and their sympathisers.” The task force warns that “two realistic scenarios” could force a fundamental reassessment of US strategy and policy.

Read the news article again. Membership will invite lots of investments in Pakistan which will benefit the country and the people. Why this will create so much pain you know where. By the way are you Indian?

^ i don't think thats going to happen......and even if it does.....why would someone just look at the G20 status before investing? everybody knows the situation of our economy n law n order.....even pakistanis are moving capital outside...
not that i am showing pessimism.......it doesn't bring any tangible benefit.....

everything is possible i havnt seen any country with such rich natural worth billions of $s resources / mineral resources n , we jst need some wise people in management / leadership , thats all

Exactly me point and besides there are countries who don't know what G20 is and still have lot more investmnet then those who have the bragging rights of g20.

G20 are fighting among themselves why would anyone want to join. They stab each other in the back soon as they can. Look at the current meetings and the economic mess everyone is survival mode they don't care what happens to other nation, should be called the dushman20!
Secondly pakistan cannot even look after its own people why would the world take pakistan seriously. When pakistan can stand on its feet and proove itself then they can talk big and people will notice.

G20 is a total failure in its agenda and Canadians are seriously questioning as to why every 4 years a new Prime Minister wastes so much time and tax payers money for expensive photo shoots

Pakistan is the only country in the world of our size(population wise), which is the not a G-20 member. Even if we just get an observer status at the G-20 it would be a good start. I agree, that just alone the membership to such an exclusive club is not going to bring much needed investment, but it would open "possible doors of opportunities."

He is definitely not stupid. Canada’s economy is booming where as US economy is still recovering. Canada is still one of the best place to live. Any one thinks that Canadian PM is stupid needs to be brain checked by brain specialist. period.

If this happens, it will make some positive changes in the country...
If PPP can do it, then it would be great service from them... let wait and see... we'll soon know if it is another TOPI drama from US
