There were 3 times as many confirmed incidents of Quran abuse by detainees, far worse than the few isolated incidents of mishandling by a few individuals that violated military policies and practices. Whereas the terrorists who desecrated the books violated their religous policies and practices. Your anger is once again misdirected.

Do you think before you type? Why would some muslims abuse the true meaning of the Quran every day (killing innocent people in its name, etc), which has got to be much more insulting to Allah than abusing a printed copy of the Quran.

I don’t know what the hubub is. SO a quran got peed on whether by accident or not..so someone sepped on a quran…So friggin what? It is a book. Did its message get diluted? Muslims blow up mosques every day where qurans are kept… not a peep about the sanctity of the book.

I don’t understand why Americans have to go out of their way to mollycoddle islamic nitwits who can’t separate a message from a book. Who have nothing to offer to society other than illogical and anachronistric mantras of spiritual and social values. Fk em…they brought it to our house..now we are brining it in their huts..game friggin on!! We are wasting our time with catering to people who think this life is a wait station for something better. Lets work with those who want to make theirs and our lives better and rid the disgruntled once and for all.

pd: wha? did i mention planes and jews gone missing? your point is abit naff. do you really think for example, a jewish fundamentalist will abuse the torah, or a christian fundo will abuse the bible? no, because believe it or not that is the one book they follow religiously and use it day to day. So why wud you expect a muslim fundo to diss the Quran? it doesnt make sense at all.

as for the second point, are you condoning racism? we know peeing on a book does not dilute the message, but that is beside the point. the sentiments behind the action are clear as daylight, and its not a pretty sight. that is what the uproar is over,not some paper and ink.

It is very simple. They say no, then maybe, then yes and say others were to blame.

Its illogical. Its like saying the Vaitican will burn its own papers of its Pope. No muslim will ever flush the the Quran not even liberal ones. So this is a straw man.

As you can see our resident racists don't even comment on the fact that the US is violating human rights and its own laws. So much for the greatest democracy.

No it is not "naff" whatever the heck that means....If a jewish fundo can take out a few muslim kids on their way to friday prayers..why is so hard to believe that they would hesitate from destoying the torah. Islamic fundos blow up mosques everyday...don't tell me there are no qurans in the mosque. Siht...jama masjid in old delhi lets you see mohammed's red beard hair for 500 rs. if historical objjects of much greater relevance are kept in mosques and they can be blown up, why the heck not a quran?

peeing on the book doesn't dilute the message..that is exactly the point. islamic invaders went around destroying temples all over south asia...monastaries of buddhisties etc..do you think hinduism or buddhism suffers? well i dunno, i dont believe any fundos would diss the very book they claim to get their inspration from. also, fundos blowing ups mosques intend to kill people, their target is not the Quran. so the argument doesnt really fly.

your second point, when monastries and temples were being destroyed, were buddists and hindus welcoming the invaders with open arms and grins on thier faces? i somehow think not.

There is the crux of the problem Ma Mooli…human life is very cheap for fundo muslims. they care more for a book, not even the message in the book which decries peace and would blow up the mosque to kill the people…but apparently would stop if someone is holding the quran. vah!!

yes pd, fundos do get mixed up in their priorities, but 1) give them a Quran, and diss is one thing they wont do and 2) we still dont know if gitmo prisoners are fundos at all. theres no evidence to suggest eitherway.

also whether the civilised society stood up to the invaders or not, is beside the point. Did they voice thier displeasure or disgust at the destruction of their religious buildings? if they did as much, your whole point of muslims being 'holier than thou' over the Quran issue is practically moot.

i agree with PD, they can burn or pee or do whatever, its the message that counts. they can't take away Quran and its teachings from the hearts n souls of the muslim world. even a 5 year old knows his first kalima.
but i can understand why muslims are upset. when ur president declare Islam as an 'axis of evil'. any actions taken by the self claimed 'civilized/modern/tolerant' nation against muslims will be seen as insulting the religion automatically. if extremist muslims do something stupid doesnt mean that u do something more stupid than that.
nevertheless there are far worse crimes being commited in muslim world which needs to be addressed such as bombing of mosques in the muslim country being the most important one. muslims need to stop killing each other first and than worry about these things.

Now lets see. Gulag. The Russians had Gulags. They worked to death nearly 20 million people in gulags.

Now Guantanamo, these prisoners are not worked to death, they apparently have ventilation, holy books, some have lawyers, and they have nice American interrogators tot talk to. Many have been released. So far we have executed none.

They have Medical care, regular visits from the Red Cross, and regular meals. Now I don't know about you, but I dearly hope we are not sending these folks to summer camp. I really want every single Jihadi, or would-be Jihadi to realize that his worst nightmare is Guantanamo.

So far, with all this ruccus, I would say that Guantanamo is a rousing success. From the looks of the document released by the Pentagon, the guards log every single damn activity in the place. Everything. So if a prisoner is weaping, screaming, ranting ripping up holy books, the guards dutifully log it, and the interrogators can manipulate as best they can. Sounds like a very frustrating unhappy place. Fine. These people are not goat herders. I don't want them out there playing golf and tennis every day. AND, I want to know everything we can about Al-Qaedda, who declared Holy war on us in 1997. They want war, give them the consequences of war.

As far as how the place is run? Do not go over the line. Get your toes right up to the line of propriety, but don't go over. Bend every rule but don't break them. People will use phrases like "Tantamount to Torture", because you have gone right up to the line, but not over. Fine.
