Do I condone it. No. Do I hope it doesn’t happen? Yes.
Does it keep me up at night? No.

My guess is that all of this froth will simply lead to more desecrations as a new form of protest, particularly since Muslim overreaction is so clear.

Where is the 150,000? Little exageration there boy?
First, we have discussed this in depth elsewhere. Second, there are holes large enough to drive a truck though in the Lancet methodology. They only interviewed 988 families and then "extrapolated" to the 100k figure. The zone of reliability was between 10k and 200k, so the researchers chose the median, 100k right in the middle. Iraq Body Count whose methodology is also seriously flawed estimates that during periods of US combat up to 7k may have been killed, and another 15k during the insurgency.
By the way, during the 30 year reign of Saddam, this is about the same kill rate that was the average.

Not at all, here is a rather rational analysis from Slate. As anyone from a halfway decent University with a decent “Stats” course can decipher, there are lies, damned lies and statistics. Frankly we should reopen the Lancet thread and have at it if anyone truely wants to put up or shut up.
"The report’s authors derive this figure by estimating how many Iraqis died in a 14-month period before the U.S. invasion, conducting surveys on how many died in a similar period after the invasion began (more on those surveys later), and subtracting the difference. That difference—the number of “extra” deaths in the post-invasion period—signifies the war’s toll. That number is 98,000. But read the passage that cites the calculation more fully:
We estimate there were 98,000 extra deaths (95% CI 8000-194 000) during the post-war period.
Readers who are accustomed to perusing statistical documents know what the set of numbers in the parentheses means. For the other 99.9 percent of you, I’ll spell it out in plain English—which, disturbingly, the study never does. It means that the authors are 95 percent confident that the war-caused deaths totaled some number between 8,000 and 194,000. (The number cited in plain language—98,000—is roughly at the halfway point in this absurdly vast range.)

Lastly, assigning responsibility for ALL deaths in Iraq to the US is just propaganda and patently stupid. Saddam was a genocidal tyrant. To imagine that things were peachy under Saddam, or that his henchmen would just stop killing is plain stupid. But if you lefty Muslim types BUY this it is because you want things to be as horrible as possible, and if someone throws some crappy study around, it simply adds gas to your fire. Well OK then. But lets’ not believe that everyone is stupid enough to swallow all the propaganda without thinking about it first.

Also this is great. You are comparing the US army and its figures with that of Saddams. I agree 100% there is no difference between each army. Both are responsible for gross crimes and violations of human rights.
