U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a $1.1 trillion spending bill on Wednesday.

**WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – The U.S. lawmakers have set condition that Pakistan will receive $33 million only after release of Shakil Afridi, the doctor who helped CIA track Osama Bin Laden.
**

The decision was taken by Republicans and Democrats unanimously.

They have also demanded withdrawal of the allegations leveled against Dr. Shakil Afridi.

Shakeel Afridi was arrested after US troops killed bin Laden in May 2011 in the town of Abbottabad. Islamabad branded the raid a violation of sovereignty and US relations fell to an all-time low.

Afridi was recruited by the CIA to run a vaccination programme in Abbottabad in the hope of obtaining DNA samples to identify bin Laden, although medics never managed to gain access to the family.

He was convicted of treason under Pakistan’s tribal justice system in 2012 – not for working for the CIA, for which the court said it had no jurisdiction – but for alleged ties to militant group Lashkar-e-Islam.

Afridi had been found guilty under the tribal justice system of his home district of Khyber, part of Pakistan’s semi-autonomous tribal belt. He was jailed for 33 years and fined $3,500.

Re: US links issuance of $33 mn aid with Dr Shakil Afridi's release

The way Pakistan is dealing with the case shows that the military was not on board before the raid.

Re: US links issuance of $33 mn aid with Dr Shakil Afridi's release

There may be some hidden demand of release another traitor too
US care about their slaves .

Re: US links issuance of $33 mn aid with Dr Shakil Afridi's release

$33 million is pocket change. Current govt has printed more than $8.5 billion worth of rupees since taking over. But Im sure that pocket change could find a place somewhere.

Re: US links issuance of $33 mn aid with Dr Shakil Afridi’s release

Afridi is part of package deal. Congress will have to certify that Pakistan is acting against Alqaeda, Haqqani Network, Quetta Shura and TTP.

Hypocrites truly is the right word.

Re: US links issuance of $33 mn aid with Dr Shakil Afridi’s release

I hope the US continues to stay engaged in Pakistan/Afghanistan. If US leaves the place in the hands of Pakistanis then our people will nothing but strengthen Taliban extremists and political parties allied to them.
This would mean more bombings, explosions and killings of innocent people while governments begging for “peace” talks with mufsideen.

Re: US links issuance of $33 mn aid with Dr Shakil Afridi's release

Dilemma is that even the liberal's hands are also stained (aka Karachi). Banda jaayay tou kidhar jaayay.

It seems as if the previous regime handed over a very peaceful Pakistan after the recent elections.

Re: US links issuance of $33 mn aid with Dr Shakil Afridi's release

It's a tiny, insignificant amount designed to just make a political point.

$33 million buys just 2 F-16 fighters. for reference.
