Actually, I believe the middle east supplies more oil to europe than america. At least based on what is written, it was churchill’s insistence that America intervene as he had helped the americans in Korea that americans went ahead in the einsenhower administration. Truman had nixed any such intervention in his term.

So what is the implication? That America was not responsible for overthrowing Mosaddeq?!
Yes, it was a joint MI6/CIA operation. But Britain could not have achieved it without US help. US played a leading role.
