Actually, I believe the middle east supplies more oil to europe than america. At least based on what is written, it was churchill's insistence that America intervene as he had helped the americans in Korea that americans went ahead in the einsenhower administration. Truman had nixed any such intervention in his term.
I don't think there would be much change. There is long term relationship between America, Israel and Saudi. Especially Israel's grip on America is still strong, even though many Americans are getting tired of their government doing Israel's bid all the time.
In general, this deal will provide some relief to Iranian people who are under worst sanctions than any country in this world. Other than that, things will remain the same.
When Kerry was announcing the deal, his tone was all about justifying this deal in front of Israeli lobby in America.
We will find out soon, US has depended on Saudia for the past 3-4 decades to further their interests in the Middle East but the situation of the area has only worsened. This could be a genuine effort to look for alternatives. I think more would depend upon Iran, they will have to decide if they want to go ahead with nukes or use the newly found leverage to gain their interests in the region.
**Peaceful, well planned and persistent diplomacy has delivered it for Iran (shame on you Pakistan). I refuse to believe that long standing tension and profound level of mistrust between two countries vanished after couple of high profile meetings. This deal was secretly being negotiated for months and months, if not years. Of course next six months will decide who is genuinely acting in good faith and who's played another dirty trick. However, for now, the world must appreciate this tectonic shift in international relations.
History will proudly remember Turkey and Iran as the only modern day Muslim countries who successfully carried out anti imperialist movements, resisted the wielding imperial pressure and outright warnings and threats from their weakest point in time. Maybe it's got something to the fact both countries themselves were big glorious Empires of past. Hence the idea of sovereignty, independence, dignity and pride is very much ingrained in their psyche. It all shines through in their diplomacy. On the other hand, you have countries (or *colonies *rather) like Pakistan who despite having a nuclear bomb and sixth largest army in the world, very much personify the good old idiom - *dhobi ka kutta na ghar ka na ghaat ka. *
Nothing is won yet considering the amount of sanctions on Iran. They are only getting some of the stuff that they have in banks overseas and that too for food purposes. I think that China is the big winner for getting cheap oil.

Iran can really play this diplomatic game very well and make considerable progress. I do believe that a person who single handily destroyed chances of Iranian nuclear bomb is Ahamadinejaad (or however you spell his name). His absolutely mad and needless anti Isreal and America rhetoric only made things beyond difficult for the country.
America also pretty much played Iran’s game by giving Iraq and to some extent, Afghanistan, to Iranian proxies. Pakistan hasn’t received such favors recently..
what about the gas pipeline? wouldn't this be the biggest immediate impact for pakistan if sanctions on iran are lifted?
saudis and israel losing influence is always good news for the rest of the world. lets hope it lasts beyond half the year despite all the sabotage efforts and lobbying that is coming up.

Iran is "selling" gas to Pakistan, US may now pressure Iran to not sell to Pakistan to further pressurize Pakistan for its demands. Other than that I don't see any hurdle why Iran will not be interested in selling its gas.
I don't know why Pakistan has used the occasion to force iran to give more favorable rates on the gas. I mean, seriously, how would it help Pakistan if the gas is linked to 70% of the current oil prices when Pakistan is already bankrupt? We are dreaming big as they say in urdu pao'on chadar daikh kar phailana chahiyay.

well pakistan was having trouble building of the pipeline on its side, the excuse was that the iranian sanctions made it impossible to find financiers and that iran should build even the pakistani side. so now with sanctions easing, this shouldn't be the case. but no one really seems excited about any of that.

So what is the implication? That America was not responsible for overthrowing Mosaddeq?!
Yes, it was a joint MI6/CIA operation. But Britain could not have achieved it without US help. US played a leading role.

That was an excuse, Pakistan was being pressured not to let the pipeline materialize, last I heard Pakistan already signed the deal with Iran... excitement phase already passed I believe.
