@Med911 - I will never justify any war if it is based in territorial or other expansionist ambitions. The attack on Saddam Hussein was BECAUSE of the deeds of Saddam Hussein. Why do you not see the seriousness of his usage of WMD and invasion of Kuwait as clear evidence of his evil?

Would you also comment on this thread’s flawed assertion that somehow Exxon doing a commercial deal for oil, just like many other countries have done including China with Iraq, somehow that has anything to do with motives for the war?

Ideally speaking, ALL dictatorship should be held to account. But the reality is that most aren’t.

Most wars are in essesnce based on the procurement of resources. The war in Iraq is also essentially a war for resources both directly and indirectly. Calling it a war to win freedom for the Iraqi people is just being deceptive. If it were truly about the Iraqi people this war would have occurred directly after Saddam bombed the Kurds.
Wars of this magnitude are not fought just to protect innocents. No country is going to expend resources on this scale to protection civilians. No there is always something there to make such a war worth the price.
As for Kuwait, the US and her allies did expel Saddam from Kuwait. This was because Kuwait is important economically and strategically. But again notice how they did not invade Iraq then, even as Saddam began cracking down on Shia rebels… Ten years of sanctions, that inflicted untold misery on the Iraqi people, and suddenly its time for an invasion?!?
And to justify it the use all sorts of bogus arguments.

Its the hypocrasy of it all that is so objectionable.
