There was a sizable community of Pashtuns in UP. Even a whole area had Pashtu origin name, Rohilkhand (roh=mountain). It now comprises cities like Bareli and Rampur. This means that even though they now speak Urdu but they were originally from yousufzai tribe of Pashtuns.
One famous Urdu speaking person with Pashtun origin is Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar.
There were Pashtuns in other places as well, like Bhopal and Hyderabad. I read that Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan also has Pashtun heritage.
Are there other famous Urdu speaking people with Pashtun heritage that you know of?
there are a few families in Allahabad who used to gather in a roadside tea stall for morning newspaper and breakfast…i remember they used to eat buns with at least 100 grams of butter on it…lol…after that get together they would go out for daily collection “usooli”…they engaged primarily money-lending business [loan sharkers]…it was a common knowledge that they used force to get their money back [sood money, not interested in asl…].
vo kahte haiN na k “Khan asl mo’aaf kar saktaa hai magar sood nahiiN”…
Dr Asad Muhammad Khan, who wrote 'Basode ki Maryam' and 'Mai Dada'.
Is it because he had KHAN in his name? This criterion is not true all the time.
One interesting point is that Urdu speaking people whose ancestors were Pashtuns do not consider themselves Pashtun anymore. Rightly so because a lot of them have mixed families now.
On the other hand, there is another group of Urdu speaking people who migrated from India, but still are not completely merged with other Urdu speaking people. Those are called Punjabi Saudagaran.
Mir Khalil ur Rehman, the founder of Jang group belonged to Anjuman e Punjabi Saudagaran e Dehli. He was born in gujranwala but his family moved to Delhi during pre partition times. I think he started Jang while he was in Delhi. When Pakistan came into being, he moved to Karachi.
thanx for finding it out on your own…MaliHabad doesn’t have any sizable Pashtun community per se…his forefathers prolly came from AfGhanistan and settled in Shahjahanpur/Rampur areas of UP where we see a lot of people who look like Pashtuns. there are a large number of students from these areas at Aligarh Muslim University and i personally had a few friends whom you could easily mistakenly identify as Pashtuns/AfGhanis.
we used to jokingly say that everyone should get married to beautiful girls in Shahjahanpur and/or Rampur!
Dileep Kumar?
Dilip Kumar, Yusuf Khan, is a Peshawarii paThaan...i dunno if he is Pashtun or NOT...looks like he is by his looks...other Bollywood Khans are 'Naqli Khans' except Sanjay Khan, Feroz Khan, Qadar Khan and Amjad Khan's families.

I believe he is, what about salman, Aamir and shahrukh?
What isspecial about being a Khan?
nothing at all, just like being a syed or not...doesn't make any difference...one muslim is better than the basis of taqwa ONLY...i'm the one who does NOT believe one bit in zaat paat...musalmaan kii bas ek zaat hai ---> musalmaan honaa!
