decent urdu version of the above panjabi mahawara is "puhnchee waheen pe khaak jahaan kaa khameer thaa"

when person returns to the place he belongs to, or to the place he is gets accosiated with ..
so lets say that tomorrow Amir Liaquat joins MQM again, we can use your muhawara as well as mine too (with apologies to mirch, his muhawara cannot be used here in the same context, so its not the urdu translation of what LKK wrote)

That had a story associated with ..
An excellent and very snobbish chef was hired by a Nawab in India. One day he asked the Nawab, what to cook. Nawab said that he feels like eating Masoor kee Daal. Chef gave a list of ingredient to the Nawab. Ingredients had a list price of 100 rupees, where actual daal cost was only 2 paisaa and rest was spices of all types. When Nawab expressed the concern over the list, Chef threw the list of ingredients on the floor and stomped out of the haveli, uttering these words "Yeh monh or masoor ki daal"

It is said when someone is not worthy of something but insists on having it.
I wish to give you a non offensive example mostly it is used for insulting someone.
For example someone did not prepare for his/her tests and you witnessed it , then he/she says that he is expecting a perfect score in his/her tests.
Another version of the story TLK told is this:
This Nawab hired a chef who's specialty was making delicious masoor key daal.
One morning Nawab asked him to make his famous masoor key daal.
Chef said OK and started to cook it . He took it all day and served it at dinner time. Nawab objected by saying "You spent all day to cook this masoor key daal."
The Chef got mad and emptied the pot which had that daal in it at the roots of a mango tree in courtyard , this mango tree was dead and dry. The Chef walked out saying yeah monh aur masoor key daal.
Within a few weeks that dead and dry mango tree turned into a healthy flowering tree which started to give great tasting mangoes again.
This Nawab tried to find this chef to apologize and hire him back , but could never find him.
