Anyone know how much 4 or 5 star all inclusive to Hawai would be from Canada during first or second week of October?
Also, Mauritius would be another one of my dream honeymoons...but I hear it is very expensive...is that true?
Candy_apple, when we went to Hawaii for our honey moon from TO the whole thing cost us $9000. We stayed at Hyatt. It was amazing!!! Our friends went a year before us and it cost them $10,000. So yes it is pricey. If you can afford it definately go. you will absolutely love it! I wanna move there, thats how much i loved it! :)
One of my friend went to Mauritius and it cost them $11K or $12K, but they had a great time and pix were awesome. You can Pm me if you need more details. :)
hubby pays for honeymoon... yes finances are tight since he's paying for walima, wedding ring(big expense lol) and so much more...but i think you can budget it in and pick a place of your choice and in your budget and try to find good deals on ticket and hotels as they are the biggest expense
or reduce the length of it to a week but at least you get to go away together to some place new
Hubby doesn't always pay for it. Our honey moon was a present from my parents. But i was willing to share the cost if hubby was to pay for it himself. Most of my friends shared the cost.
As for paying it--every situation is different. You can lessen expenses by searching for deals on-line and most importantly going in an off-season. The plane tickets go down about 50% and the hotel rates are better (you are more likely to find specials like "stay 2 nights and get the third free etc etc). If you are a budget minded couple---It helps choosing a destination where the daily expenses are cheaper.
Islands tend to have more expensive meals and a lot of time you are at the resort and need to have many meals there. and yes they can be crazy expensive like a New Years Buffet with a 1/2 hour dance performance by locals for $1000!!!
Europe or the Far East would be a lot cheaper hotel/food wise than Fiji, Tahiti, Seyshelles, etc etc
we just went to hawaii two weeks ago. Stayed for one week total. Spent 3 days in Kauaii and 4 days in Mauii. Hawaii is expensive, quite expensive infact. Im not sure how much total cost was but definately more than $6000.
We stayed a decent place in kauaii Aston resort, but in Mauii we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Resort so that was expensive.
The food is also expensive, and any activity you do like boat rides, or helicopter rides are atleast $150 per person. So if you go there plan on spending atleast $5000, for hotel, car rental, food, shopping, activites, etc.
But it is gorgeous :) can't deny that....
if you need any suggestions let me know!
^ whats right for u might not be right for others.
for example I am higlhy allergic to sunlight...so any beach activity is out of the question...but for others that might be the place that want to visit.
another thing...Niagara falls is ur backyard not everybodies.
oh no...i never understood how niagara falls became a honeymoon destination... i dont find it romantic at all but that might be because i have seen it too many times
my best friend went there, not for a honeymoon, but with his friends and said he absolutely loved it and will probably wanna go there among other places for his honeymoon. also said it was pretty cheap.

yeh same here... dont know why people this its such a romantic place but tahts also cuz ive been there a few times.
as far as it being in ur backyard, why would u wanna go there instead of some other place far away, since u can go to niagra anytime u want?
^ditto. Your honeymoon is different than any other trip so I wouldnt want it to be anywhere nearby...I even nixed Hawaii cause I'm in the US and I feel like I can go there whenever. We'll be honeymooning in the Maldives iA :)
The Honeymoon Capitol of the World is only an hour's drive away from here...that is...the Niagara Falls...why not in my own backyard? :P
i reallly wunder why ppl go great distances and waste so much money while the right place is right where they live. any comments?
The world has so much to offer: exotic cultures, historic landmarks, interesting cuisines, museums with so many artifacts and paintings, natural wonders, pristine beaches, beautiful old buildings etc etc etc
If I could I would travel for the rest of my life--wht better profession than that....
As for spending a lot of money--travelling is for your personal enrichment. Once the trip is over, the memories have been embedded forever; you cant donate them or sell them on ebay--they are entirely yours.
I had a luxurious honeymoon in French Polynesia; complete with the spa exerience, jungle excursions, kayaking, cultural shows, living in overwater bungalows---I do not regret it!
^I wanted to go to Bora Bora soo much. Even before I knew I was getting married, I knew I wanted to go there. Then I got married and went to Turkey. Istanbul was still a lot of fun but I still wanna go there!
^ funny u mention Turkey...my finace really wants to visit Turkey (Istanbul) but is giving it up for my wishes to go to Santorini n Athens (Athens for him...ll be there for 3nights n 2 in santorini). But i feel really guilty, wuld you recommend Istanbul for Honeymoon???

Me neither, it's nice but I don't think of it as romantic at all..
