I am finally done with all the preparations I needed to do to hunker down and ride out the storm. My wife, kids and MIL are safe …they reached Killeen, TX 2:30 AM(10:30 AM to 2:30 in the night)…good news is they are safe and having a Pizza :).
As most of you know that I live in Sugar Land…I will give the update from Ft.Bend County and Sugar Land area as long as I have power and internet connection available.
Right now, the wind has picked up…its about 15-20 mph, sky is getting dark. They expect the winds to go upto 65 mph and 6-8 inches of rain over the next 12-16 hour period. A local newsperson(Frank Billingsley) was explaining this …its not the strength of the wind…its the constant hammering at 60 mph that causes most of the damager. we are not talking about wind gusts upto 60mph, we are talking about 12-16 hours of 60 mph winds.
Mods can we make it a sticky and all who are affected by this storm can update us by posting to this thread? I know there are many people who are members on this board and are in the storm’s path…if you can please keep us updated.
You're brave Kaleem, but you have no reason not to be - Allah is with you, and inshAllah everything will be okay. Do you have any neighbours that are still around?
First time I'm hearing of 'Sugar Land'. :)
(I just happened to come online and the first thread I saw was yours)
