Why do desi people use these two word together. My kid asked this question , I had now answer.

If English were to be “plain” there would have been no “plaintiffs” until and unless it was not being audacious otherwise.

we should be more worried about why desis..well some desis pronounce measure as mai-yur, pleasure as plai-yur.
i could not mai-yur the plai-yur when i found that trai-yur.

Also, desis commonly say: I think so you are right. The correct sentence is I think you are right. The "so" would actually replace the "you are right" and have a period after it.

well its different than British English as well. That is a convenient excuse given by recent arrivals from Pakistan or India until they realize that I am a proper geezer. Fact of the matter is that english in the subcontinent has taken its own direction and is thus dissimilar from the english spoken in US or UK. I mean its nothing bad, aussies have their own take, so do south africans, and then we have teh jamiacans..and its not about the accents but words and phrases used, added, discarded etc.
case in point "i didn't knew that" is a phrase recent arrival commonly use and its fine yaar, but dont tell me that its the queens english.

Agreed to some extent but other than accent, there is a difference in grammar ( e.g. the use of shall and will) ... in USA we usually don't use shall, while in UK it has some meanings... similarly many words are different here in US ( e.g. Lift and Elevator) ... overall its all about local slang and domestic words, which are part of English Text in south Asia for the obvious reason!
