And yes they elect more democratically but 5 idiots electing one of them to be the leader who will raise the banner if idiotic demands and ideology is not a good thing. Their completely pathetic choice of munawar Hassan shows that if you vote to pick one rotten apple from a trough of rotten apples… You still get a rotten apple.

And lastly I really doubt that they are financially clean. There has been much written about income, assets and lifestyles of some of the leaders offspring.

Their intra-party electoral process is pretty good, and is not just about 5 guys electing an ameer. It is far more elaborate. Elections are held at the lower level, leading to the election of top tier, which then elects the ameer…not much different from PTIs internal elections, as well as our national assembly elections. Yes, you do get rotten apples, again, similar to the national assembly:) I believe that Munawar Hasan’s refusal to contest the intraparty elections was due to this very pressure. He did not believe he could win, hence he bowed out. You have to give him points for that.

There are financial blots on every party. Corruption is deep rooted in our culture. Even in PTI, there are elements that need to be cleansed, but the more important part is accountability. JI and PTI have both shown a strong willingness for an internal accountability process, where people are sidelined or thrown out for corruption or mismanagement…something you don’t see in other parties.
