Unplugged With Sachaydino

**1. What is your name?
**Sachaydino

**2. Where do you hail from and where do you reside? Do you have dual nationality?
**Karachi, now Philadelphia Pennsylvania, USA. [dual nationality?] No.

3. What is your educational and professional background?
Bachelors of Engineering (NED Karachi), MBA (Dalhousie University Canada)

4. What is your political orientation?
Supporter of great leader ZAB and his social policies, Pakistan never ever had produced such personality who not only promised his agenda of social schemes but had guts to implement them..

5. Which political party do you support and why? Please explain the reasons in case if you do not support any party.
PPP being truly national party. This is the only party which is still trying its best to bring people from all provinces, cast, creed, religion, ethnic back ground etc, on one platform that is Pakistan.

**6. Have you ever read complete manifesto of your party? Does it matter to you at all?
**Yes. PPP had always been a party of common people. It has always worked for masses introduced schemes such as NDVP (during ZAB) times, Roti Kapra aor Makan (ZAB) and BB’s social welfare schemes etc. which never other party had done on national basis so far.

7. Do you believe that your party has a good team to run the country and tackle issues like governance, corruption, loadshedding, security?
Yes. PPP is party of masses, mostly represented by people which can be relied on. It has key loyal, most competent people who are the back bone of the party.

8. Has your party ever been in power in the Centre or in provinces? If yes, how did it perform?
As far I remember the party had government for three times in past, did not complete its tenure, taken over by dictators, due to which a number of programs started by the party were abandoned hence all efforts of them went down the gutter. This is the first time that the PPP government along with its allies is completing its due tenure. The performance is not up to the expectations of people but there are genuine reasons for the poor performance.

9. Are you satisfied with the policies of your party? Also, do you believe your party is heading in the right direction?
No. It is my personal opinion that party is somewhat changed its agenda of working for the masses, but then this is not pure PPP government it has allies and PPP had to sacrifice some of its performance to keep the alliance intact. However being out side of the country for a long period of time, people living in Pakistan are the best judges.

10. Are you satisfied with the role of your party in country’s political, socio-economic, defense and law & order fields, even if it has never been in power?
Same answer as above.

**11. In your opinion, what are the top-most plus and top-most minus points of your party?
**It is still a national party and working on social welfare schemes originated by ZAB, BB for the poor people of Pakistan. The negative image created by certain personalities in the current setup has to be addressed whether truth or a lie. Ignoring competent people and keeping them in back ground is the minus point of PPP.

**12. What do you think of presidential form of government?
**I have seen four presidential form of governments. During second president, Pakistan broke and in the third one Pakistan had become a jihadi state, still suffering from dark policies of third president. Yet the fourth president made this country as slave of Sam. I hate presidential form of government; it has always been a bad omen for Pakistan.

**13. Your take on judicial activitism?
**CJ is partial and only after the blood of PPP. I hate the way current CJ is working. In his 4 1/2 years of tenure he has not decided single case which pertains to non-PPP. All his efforts are wasted on following up PPP cases and nothing else.

14. Are you satisfied with the role of the Senate in the country?
Senate has to approve or disapprove the bills passed by NA after thorough discussions. I think they are doing their job.

**15. Are you okay with officially-approved electioneering budgets for provincial and national assemblies? (Rs5m for NA and Rs30m for PA)**

I don’t know. Perhaps current MNAs and MPAs will be able to give this answer.

**16. To govern a vast country of over 20 million population, the bigger the cabinet, the better?
**No. But again it depends upon situation whether it is one party government or an alliance. In alliances you have to satisfy the wishes of others too, you don’t have much choice.

17. Do you think that some key ministries should be managed only by technocrats, or it must be an elected representative of people to handle any department?
No. It should be managed by representatives of the areas whether technocrat or not, it does not matter. Being a technocrat is no guarantee that he or she will run the department efficiently.

18. Who is your favourite politician outside your favourite political party?
Maulana Fazl ur Rahman.

**19. Who is your favourite politician who appears in TV shows?
**Aitzaz Ahsan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Raza Rabbani, Khurshid Shah, Zulfiqar Mirza, last but not the least Maulana Fazlur Rahaman.

**20. What is your favorite current affairs show (national or international)?
**I don’t have access to Pakistani channels, but I liked programs of Talat Hussain, watched in PA forum.

Thank you Sachaydino for your time

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

For this you can not blame PPP only! This all started in the early 80s!

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

What started in 1980's? Pakistan has never witnessed this kind of load shedding before. Complete failure and mismanagement, during the 1990's our power generation used to be 65 % hydel and 35 % thermal, it has now gone to 65 % thermal and 35 % hydel (thanks to the IPP's). It is not possible for the government to pay for the oil, hence the load shedding. The installed capacity is there but the government cannot use it due to circular debt. As far as gas is concerned, that is being diverted to CNG stations and captive power plants at the expense of power generation. There are very powerful mafias at play here.

In spite of the deficit in power generation, thousands of villages and towns have been added to the power grid during the past 4 years (for political mileage) and that has definitely not helped the situation.

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

One of the major factor behind this load-shedding is theft which started in 1980s with the upsurge of electrical goods (mainly from the money earned in Gulf). I remember the first load shedding started in November 1983 in Karachi (before that there was no such thing). People increased their electricity consumption but were not willing to pay for it.

And now we see the results of these wrong doing over the last 20 years - with successive Government failures to control this.

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

Answer lies here! One of the party of the circular debt is the general consumer who is stealing and not paying.

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

The theft has increased during the past 4-5 years, even in those areas where it didnt use to be that much due to extra ordinary increase in electricity bills coupled with load shedding ranging between 8-22 hours through out the country. I have seen 2-3 hours load shedding during summers in the 90's, but nothing of this sort. And as far as the bills of electricity are concerned they are comparable and maybe more as compared to what the people in Western Countries pay. The average electricity bill for a house having 2 AC's is between 200-250 USD/month, and this is with 8-10 hours loadshedding I dont know what the cost would be with continuous power.

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

o come one dude so on each & every problem we should say that this was happening from previous governments so we should not take care of him. What a lame excuse.

Another thing every one even a kid know that Govt. is not paying the dues of IPs so they are not generating the electricity. Wake up and accept the facts. Do you know the MNA, MPA, PM and president one day expense ? This is beyond to your imagitnation and now don't say that previous President was also doing the same thing! Because as per all PPP jiyalas this is Awami party and all member should live like a common person.

Hats off for your golden words

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

Don't cry over the split of milk and act like a mature person.

About CNG crises I'm sure u'll blame the person who invented Wheel?????

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

The problem is that if the government increases the proportion of power generation to thermal 100 % and hydel 0%, that would naturally increase the burden on people and more and more would stop paying bills where as the cost of producing electricity will keep on increasing (and the bills for ordinary subscribers). This is exactly what has happened, the government should have kept thermal to the absolute minimum and gone for small dams/coal to produce cheaper electricity, alas kickbacks are more important as compared to national interest. You can check the stats of even the western countries and you will not find thermal's proportion to be as high as Pakistan. Every other month the rates of electricity are being raised now, to match the increase in oil prices. And its becoming impossible for an ordinary person to pay the bills now, considering alhamdulillah the inflation in Pakistan is also the highest in Asia presently.

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

Alright! If this party goes and we have a new party in Government who is going to be honest and sincere to tackle this problem. Would it be able to do it without the help of people of the government like in a month's time??? or a year's time?

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

You are confusing presidential form of government with military dictatorships.

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

What are some of the "performances" which PPP had to sacrifice in order to keep the alliance intact?

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

The situation can improve with better management, at the end its the government's responsibility to recover bills also. Situation has deteriorated in all departments of the country during this government.

[note]Anyways we are getting off track. We should ask Sachay questions which is the main reason for this thread.[/note]

Re: Unplugged With Guppies — Sachaydino

About PPP being party of common people: Isn't it that most people it gives the election tickets are waderas and chaudhrys?
