United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

This is the latest statement issued by karzai. I don’t think this would happen but the US should do an introspection and figure out what’s wrong with their policies. They have spent so much effort money and spilled so much blood and this is what they are getting from afghans in return? Karzai seems to be playing from taleban’s side lately. The way how majority of Pakistanis think of America isn’t any better. As far as Obama is concerned what can be said of him, he is getting some spanking from karzai.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

By the way history is repeating itself. Pakistan thought it was helping Afghanistan in the period of 79 to 96. But the end result was the suspicion of afghans towards Pakistanis. Now US thinks that it's liberating afghans but they are suspicious of their motives. It's better to stay clear from Afghanistan and let them deal with their problems.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

does anyone believe either of these were help or liberation? afghans aren't fools. no one likes outsiders running their country's policy, no matter how much their goals align. nothing special about afghanistan here. any country would do the same.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

Isn't it india's turn now to "help" afghanistan?

I can see queer pai as IT adviser to the af ghaan govarment!

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

Only the Afghans can help themselves, Pakistan, India or the US will only do it out of self interest.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

Time for USA to leave Afghanistan for good.

If Al Qaeda and other terrorists set up training camps there, then send in the drones and take them out like they have done in Somalia.

No need to nation build this broken country.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

This gives an insight to how Afghans view Pakistan. The Indians should also be wary of what could await them in the future.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

What kind of involvement does India have in Afghanistan?

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

they are training their army and police, the afghans quickly forget...

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

Are you implying that Afghanistan has forgotten what Pakistan did for them if so maybe the behaviour of Pakistanis had something to do with it as people generally are grateful for any help.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

Regardless of "behavior", you make one mistake and it will wash away your thousand generous acts... try it :D

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

Pakistan should aquire advanced border security equipment, train and employ local tribal jawans to protect the border with Afghanistan. Do a trade agreement with Afghanistan so they can have access to our ports for imports only for a fee and provide them with the wheat and other crops for a fair price. Stop and erase the Zia era 'Afghania province' doctrine from the military ranks and forget about strategical depth there. The country is not worth it. Let India be happy to have good ties with them and not to worry about it as long as your borders are secured and there are no troublemakers enter into Pakistan's territories. Stop all smuggling from either sides of the border.

TTP will dissolve soon, without a reason a movement cannot sustain. FATA areas are already quiet independent, a legal framework to implement local laws on people's demand will take care of the issues. The warlord subculture and remains from Afghan war of 80s can be handled with this framework. All foreigners that took refuge in 80s/90s in that area, must leave Pakistan.
This is fair game that Pakistan play, by not isolating Afghanistan but help them in transportation and charge them reasonably. Let Karzai to decide if he wants to bring religious people on board and give them a say in governance. He needs to find a middle ground to meet the expectations of all of his country, secular and religious both. Its not hard to do, but there should be a will to listen to others and compromise from both sides.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

You can look at it another way ...

Perhaps Karzai is right!

Perhaps he was helped by the US when he was the underdog because he had to destablise the Talibani government, but now since he is in power and possible signs of stability are coming in to Afghanistan the U.S. are involved in more activities to continue the instability in Afghanistan ... It is less about who is in power ... if you look in an unbiased way at the whole picture the truth is the U.S. Administration say they are helping but are really involved in keeping the area as unstable as they can.

Or another possibility is that U.S. put Karzai in to power hoping he would favour them - just like other Muslim country leaders are favouring the U.S. - May be since Karzai has made a few statements against U.S. policy and perhaps has not been welcoming to them for the resources in Afghanistan they have seen that as a slap in the face and now want to take vengeance on him by helping insurgents this time against him.

It may just be that ... There is no secret that governments around the world are only being allowed to remain in power because of their stance regarding economic relations with the Western superpowers.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

^ I agree.

There could be some truth to it, I don't believe Karzai has completely turned into an American enemy number 1 (although he's certainly playing with the fire here), but there’s certainly a shift in his policies. He would rather have Americans completely vacate the region and let the Afghan power brokers take the centre stage, and just get on with it. As for Americans, they aren’t leaving the region anytime soon. The conventional fighting with Taliban may be over, but the real battle of ultimate power struggle, influence and long lasting strategic control has just begun. Americans probably won’t mind getting rid of Karzai and I bet he’s already feeling the pressure.

There is no fun and money in maintaining peace. and if it’s case of another US planted puppet nearing his expiration date, the best Karzai can do is to have the last roar.

Afghan leader

**THE Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, has been accused of “spitting on the graves” of British soldiers after he said Helmand would have been better off if UK forces had never set foot there.
**
**In an interview with The Sunday Times, Karzai described the Taliban as “brothers” and America as “rivals” as he criticised the record of the West during the 12-year war.
**
In contrast to David Cameron’s recent claim that it was “mission accomplished” for troops in Afghanistan, Karzai said that “. . . the US-led Nato mission in terms of bringing security has not been successful, particularly in Helmand”.

Asked whether it would have been better if British troops had never gone there, Karzai replied: “I guess so. Yes.”
A total of 447 British soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan and more than 2,000 wounded. The families of servicemen who died there reacted with outrage to Karzai’s comments.

re: United States supporting insurgent attacks in Afghanistan : Karzai

obviously, Afghans are angry at America on invading their country. average afghanis dont like ameircan presence so karzai has to tell these things to stay relevant.
