United 93

So, how many people are going to watch this movie?

:halo:

Re: United 93

Saw it on A&E the other day..

Re: United 93

^ Sara bibi, what you saw on A&E is another movie, called Flight 93. What Mehnaz is talking about is** United 93**, which is a movie just released in theaters. Same story, ofcourse.

Mehnaz, a friend of mine just saw it in Chicago, and according to him, if you are a muslim, the movie is utterly depressing for you. He watched it with an all-gora crowd in the theater and there were several people crying through the movie. I guess thats where they have scenes showing people calling their families back home saying they are hijacked and about to die etc. I don't plan to watch this movie in the theaters, in any case. May be I'll just Netflix it later, if it has good reviews. Although my inclination is to skip it, like I skipped Passion of the Christ.

Re: United 93

Just saw A&E version of United 93...not sure abt other one....maybe....
TC...

Re: United 93

Ohh okay.. dint realize there were two diff mvoies.. i wondered how A&E was showing a movie that was just released into theaters :halo:

Re: United 93

I wud not go for it. Not just because things be portrayed against muslims (those alleged hijackers), but the whole scene would be so depressing. If you do wana watch, go for "syriana". The gora crowd doesn't go to such movies, very few!

I did go for "Passion ..." and ended up crying since there was so much violence in that movie, all against one person. That was way tooo much. Some people (of course gora ppl) refused or regretted to take their children to this movie.

Re: United 93

it has received good reviews but I don't think I can sit through it. The images are still in the back of my mind from 2001 and how we were all praying for my uncle to be safe. That feeling of not knowing where and how he was is not something I would like to relive.

Re: United 93

I honestly have no desire to watch it. I did catch the trailor for it and to tell you the truth, it was quite nauseating.

Re: United 93

not going to watch it. or flight 93. it wont take a minute to figure how manipulative its going to be. cashing in on 911 by re-igniting people’s hate for the muslim world.

Re: United 93

I find it amusing that one of the guys who plays a terrorist in the movie was not allowed into America for the premiere of the film in NYC cause he's Iraqi.

Re: United 93

^ What ?? Iraqis rnt allowed in US? :konfused:

Re: United 93

I wont. Ive seen enough movies and documentaries about 9-11 along with several consipiracy theory ones. Ill give it a pass even when it comes on DVD. I find it sad that someone is going to make money out of these tragic events by making such movies (or selling books about 9-11 among other things).

Re: United 93

Nope, don't want to see it.

Re: United 93

Sara, there is probably more to it. I think he was in the Republican Guard in Iraq before escaping to Jordan. Khair, in any event, they wouldn’t allow him to enter the US.

Re: United 93

despite massive advertisement the movie opened second behind RV and only slightly better than the sorority movie behind it..

the real test of such propaganda movies is in the weeks ahead, where word of mouth will determine it's success.. first weeks are always determined by the amount of advertising and reviews which of course the complicit media machine gave lots of.

Re: United 93

not me

Re: United 93

actually most of the money this movie is making is going to 9/11 charities

Re: United 93

I think even 5 years after is way too early to let out a movie on it.. :( People are still upset and stuff ..especially with the war going on, too.

Re: United 93

I saw the movie last Friday, with all gora crowd, and I agree, it is a very disturbing movie for the audience. People were crying during and after the movie. At the end while walking out, it felt like I was attending a funeral as there was absolute silence.
Pretty depressing movie for Muslims. They have shown the so called "Muslim Terrorist" praying in the hotel and other stuff during the flight.

Re: United 93

It isn't me after all. It does seems too soon. I know it's been 5 years but look at Pearl Harbor, it took them what 40 years to make a movie on that? I haven't seen any movies about Oklahoma City? I just think Hollywood has rushed this a bit.
