My bhabhis distance cousin got married to a guy living abroad. The rishta was done through family friends and the girls family had some family living in the same country as the guy - and they said good for the rishta as well. On the wedding day .. after all the hungama .. when the bride came at the guys home .. the guys nephews came in their room with the phone saying "Mamu .. mami ka phone hai" .. the girl wondered a bit and asked who it was .. the whole truth came out .. guy was married abroad to another girl .. the cousin of my bhabhi didnt wanna stay anymore, so she called her family right away .. at the end she was convinced to stay for Walima since they had invited so many people .. - they are now divorced.
My mums cousin got married a few years back to a lil older guy from Norway. They didnt know the family well or anything. After the wedding, they applied for Visa till Norway, but it got declined. Reason being: The guy had already a wife and kids in Norway. My mums cousin is still married to him and they have a lil daughter as well .. I'm not sure they guy went back to visit her in pakistan after she got to know about his first marriage .. unfortunalty.
