I think people try to over analyze men women thing.
Its good for discussion and jokes though to cry about not understanding opposite sex.
Just as all men are not equal or same, women are not either.
On the other hand both men and women share similar qualities. Being jealous, possesive or territorial is not just man or woman thingy. Its common to both.
In the question asked, getting so called cold shoulder could be due to variety of reasons, not just because you did not ask her 'permission' to go alone or did not go with other people etc.
Why not ask the woman herself if this was really a cold shoulder or she had something else to do during that week etc.???
Try to have a sincere, open relation, you will never have this problem.
If you try to understand women who you do not have relationship and are not succesful, then whats the big deal?
Even men don't understand men or women don't understand other women in many ways and again no big deal in that.
Bottom line:
*Only time the situation arise where one person thinks he/she cannot understand other is when the relationship is not really open and candid. If both are open in relationship then there should not be a situation of not understanding each other.
