^so if your wife was the type that was abusive, you would keep forgiving them each time they verbally or physically hurt you? how many times can you keep forgiving them though, when you look at those stories of women or even men that are in such relationships, most of the time, with the abusive person, it’s a cycle, they get angry-get abusive-you forgive them-gifts-and again the anger-get abusive-you forgive. what happens if the behavior never gets recognized by the abuser and necessary steps to fix it aren’t taken? what happens to that unconditional love

at what point does it become hopeless for any relationship

Then the person doesn’t have unconditional love for their spouse, they have self-hatred to continue to stay in that situation.

And abuser CLEARLY doesn’t.
