Exactly...Will Smith did not convert to Islam. Forget what anyone else says...you know on Oscar night, Barbara Walters has that special right before the Oscars where she interviews some of the nominees? Well, he was one of the people she interviewed and this was one of the questions she asked. He himself said that he ONLY admires and respects the religion and had a chance to learn a lot about it during the movie. I dunno if anyone else watched that interview but I did. All these e-mails and sites saying he converted are hoaxes. Because like I said, forget what OTHER people say...Will Smith himself denied it.

I am not asking about Hadiths, but is there something mentioned in Quran about it? If there is then do let me know. This question goes to all guppy mullaz out there. Thanks!
In my opinion, I do not think there is a verse in quran about music. However, I may be wrong.
BUT everything in the quran, is said from allah through prophet Mohammed(PBUH). Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) has said that music is Al-haram!
Use Yusuf Islam’s example. He use to make songs and use to make a lot of money but as soon as he converted to islam and found out music is forbidden, he stopped making music. Or else he would still make music and make money if music was allowed in Islam.
This a very common rule of islam that do not listen to music. I mean even a little kid would know that but unfortunetly, people like alibeta are not aware and they talk about humanity and islam.
“The hadith found in al-Hakim describes the singing voice coupled with music as imbecilic and sinful. Naturally, singing coupled with music is forbidden, since music is forbidden”

Show me a single verse in Quran which says Music is Haraam and I promise I wont call you an ignorant fool!
Ahadees are interpretations of the Sahaba of what the Prophet (PBUH) had to say. And that could be changed! You can go ahead and call me Kaafir and whatever the hell you want since I listen to Music and do not support OBL and suicide bombings! I really dont care. As my deen is living in peace and harmony and letting others live in peace!

ukhalil11 - thanks for the facts. but hadiths are just the interpretations of what Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, isnt it? And if you are the follower of Allah, then you know that He mentioned in the holy Quran to follow Him and His book only. I am not saying that hadiths are wrong. They "can" be correct. But I personally would follow Quran. If music was haraam and Muslims were not allowed to sing or hear music, then it must've been mentioned in the Quran. Dont you think?? Oh well, I am not trying to have an argument here. But I just want to have a fair talk on this issue coz I never thought it was haraam. Now after reading all the info from the links u provided, I am a lill doubtful. But if you see my point, DONT u think if hearing music was SUCH a big issue ... how could Allah just not mention it in Quran, and why do we read about it in Hadiths? So think about it. And before u say anything, I suggest u ask the same question to an Islamic scholar as well. If there are ppl around who care to share their thoughts on this matter, then they are most welcome to.
