Without knowing me your assuming i am narrow minded and don’t know how to forgive let me tell you a little bit from experience.
I think few men would have been as forgivng as me when i was at the hieght of my powers… but you know what i got for desisting and holding my sword arm back?
I only got a stronger enemy for next time… no life does not work that way anymore… there used to be a time when honor and chivalry and courtesy meant something and a defeated enemy would never dare to look up again if they had any idea how mercifully they were treated they would know respect.
But these times are hard. I know fully how much hatred death breeds better than many i have lived through the darkest and foulest of times but for all the good i ever did i got nothing but hatred uin return…
Put yourself in my shoes and tell me then what would you do? Live and let live or run to somewhere else and avoid the enemy? Or perhaps try and talk?
Well i tell you i tried all those options, my offers of peace were seen as a weakness and opurtunity for them… When i left to go elsehwere they came after me… and for every time i let them walk away they only returned with more strength.
This is not just my story it is the same for every one of my ancestors… Even our faiths greatest suffered the same…
But enough is enough i am not a saint, i accept that perhaps what i am considering as a methodology may be utterly wrong but faced with no alternative one has to do the ultimate to survive…
And yes these things might seem frugal… a few dances here and there a few drinks here and there a few more inroads for our ways to be eroded…
This is precisely how we lost before and i will not let that happen again…
Perhaps when i am long gone and the dust has settled over my grave people will come to understand i was the among the last of an ancient breed who tried everyhting andf perhaps ultimately failed but the effort was perhaps just worthy of it.
Death is an evil thing…
But to kill one and save many more is also a heavenly thing.
This is something so difficuilt to comprehend i pray no one ever need face such a choice.
I agree this is extremely difficult to comprehend and I also hope no one ever faces such a choice.
I don’t know what you have experienced nor do I know your perspective towards life. But I do know this, if one looks at everything in terms of enemies, war, power, winning, and losing, then there will be a lot of negativity.
And If one has a negative perspective in life then one will always get hatred in return regardless of how much good one does.
Death now will only lead to retaliation in the future. If you take someones life today, then his future generations will take your life and your loved ones’ lives away. Its a cycle.
And someone has to break this cycle. through forgiveness.
