Unable to Eat...

:salam:

Am unable to eat anything. Its my 6th week and everything, almost everything is turning me off :frowning:

It is partially due to nausea, but at other times, its just the lack of want to physically put anything in my mouth, hence the associated fatigue.

Anyone experienced this? (well i pray not)… but if so, how did you come round to eating even enough to give your limbs the energy to more? Was there a speific food that helped to increase your diet? I feel like i’ve tried eating everything i fancy (not that i fancy it anymore) but nothing works :frowning:

Plz help this always-hungry-but-dont-want-to-eat-honey-waali-Amma

Re: Unable to Eat...

I had it too and many pregnant females have it at the early stage.

What helped me was apples, I ate tons of them and if u have watermelon around, they give u the liquid and energy too.

Eat what u can, dont force it.

When I was in my 3-4 th month, we went to pakistan for a visit and all the food was a turn off, all I could eat during lunch was this shami kebab bun, that is sold there, so we would go and get that almost everyday.

Good luck.

ps. it reminds me my MIL made me fruit chaat, it was yummy, that I (we) would make it when I was having those 'low' days.

peel and cut seasonal fruits of your choice like apples, pears, anar, anghoor, banana, some khajoors ect..
take a cup of water and boil with half a cup of sugar and let it cool down.

Add to your fruits, with fruit chaat masala and milk cream if u wish and eat as much as u can. its yummy!

Re: Unable to Eat...

Welcome to the club.... all that I'm eating these days is snacks, baked stuff or pasta :(
Meat smells bad and I can't stand the thought of veggies. Pakistani food tau I can't eat at all.... so I went and got an orange scone from Panera for breakfast this morning and it was sooooo good :D
I'm also snacking on crackers, almonds and yogurt in the office to keep the nausea away, the emptier your stomach is the more nausea you'll feel... so try to keep snacking on stuff you like.

Re: Unable to Eat...

^omg i frequented panera for breakfast at that time too!

try fresh fruit

i was eating cheerios constantly (honey nut ones)

Re: Unable to Eat…

^:lifey: Did you try their orange scone? Its soooo yummy

Re: Unable to Eat…

I can so feel your pain. I am constantly hungry and nauseous at the same time and it ain’t pretty. EVERYTHING… meaning all the foods in the world are a turn off. I am just counting days to get thru the first trimester. :bummer:

Re: Unable to Eat...

Ladies, try eating yogurt ... it helps a lot with the nausea. I've read that food higher in Protein help keep the nausea down, and staying on an empty stomach will increase the nausea, so eat whatever you can and keep snacking throughout the day, instead of big meals.... its helping me, should help you too :)

Re: Unable to Eat...

pinks!!! omggggg. congrats

yah i carried a baggie of cheerios with me everywhere to keep hunger away. it was one of the few thing i could eat. and less salt than crackers.

omg we are on the same boat…its my 6th week too and i am unable to eat anything especially in the morning even though i feel hungry but same as you i dont want to put anything in my moth…:frowning: what else do you feel during these early days?

Re: Unable to Eat...

I went through the same thing, i lost weight and didn't like anything, everything made me retch.

The only things I used to eat were cereals, toast with jam, toast with cheese, toast with nutella - basically breakfast items..

by the 5th month I got my appetite back but i wasnt crazy hungry like everyone told me i'd be..less than normal

now i'm 7 months and just about eating what I used to eat before preg, 3 meals nothing more except forcing milkshakes before bed and an apple..so dont worry the baby will be fine inshAllah, My Dr told me, even if you drank just water for 3 days in early preg the baby will suck it's nutriets from you however...so just eat what you can..

Re: Unable to Eat...

Make sure you don't dehydrate yourself, ensure you are at least drinking properly even if you cannot eat.

Try:
Green sour apples
Dry toast
Hard boiled egg
Crackers
Lassi
Yogurt

Even if you don't feel hungry, if you know that you haven't eaten of drunk anything for a long time, then try to have something.

It will pass after some time.

Re: Unable to Eat...

First three months are often critical and difficult. After 3rd month of pregnancy you will be able to get a proper and healthy diet InshAllah. Losing weight during the first trimester is quite normal so you don't have to worry about it. Also probably you have started hating some particular food which is normal too and will get fine later.

I went through the worse situation, my MIL went to the other city to attend some weddings and I was alone to handle everything at home along with nausea, morning sickness etc :S Later I had a terrible stomach infection which didn't let me eat/drink anything (not even water) so I was depending on drips. I got dehydrated. Now it's my second trimester but I still can't digest properly sometimes, due to my infection.

Take orange juice (better if it's pulpy), fish crackers. don't give yourself any kind of fatigue, and avoid excretion

Re: Unable to Eat...

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions!

I tried apples, but its no help, used to like yogurt but not anymore :(

I try snacking on Lays "Masala" chips, it sort of helps... but i'm not doing my body any favours with them.

I cant wait for this phase to be over, i want cravings and i want ppl to cater to 'em :D

I'm eating a lot of rock melon, its the one thing i can eat not get sick (most of the time)

i'll force myself more, lassi is a good idea btw.

Also, i found that since my stomach is empty most of the time, citrus fruits/ orange juice and the like caused acidity, so i'm avoinding it now.

Re: Unable to Eat...

I felt the same way too the only thing I could ate was fruits ! I guess it's different for everyone one.
I wish you a smooth pregnancy !

Re: Unable to Eat...

My OB/GYN told me to avoid citrus fruit and said Orange juice will make me more nauseous.... she was right. I altogether avoid Orange juice now.

i ate cantaloupe a lot! and i was having trouble drinking water so craved juicy fruits like melons.

Re: Unable to Eat...

oh an update, one thing i CAN eat is corn! but not the canned stuff rather the ones made on coal from the theila waala :D ate the entire thing Alhumdulillah

I used to have loads of lychee and apricots during my pregnancy that was something my mom used to send along with my lunch :D

Wow ! I had it once and couldn’t digest it , I threw up :grumpy:
