Umrah Guide

InshaAllah i’ll be going for Umrah soon! So i am just looking to hear from people who have done their Umrah especially the ones who have done it recently. I know about TLK and hence also participated on his Hajj chat and found it quite informative :k:. Now, I am looking to hear from more people here!

Basically what i am wanting to know is;

  1. Generally, how was the experience?

  2. Did you forgot to visit any place there or forgot to say an important prayer or anything at all, which you would recommend me to not miss out on?

  3. Any recommendations for the Umrah Guide books?

  4. Just anything at all you think you can tell/advice me which would help me make the most out of this Umrah trip.

Thanks guys! I will add more questions as they come to my mind.

Re: Umrah Guide

If you can stop jumping between munni badnam hui and umarh topics, we can pay more attention to your threads

I say Zk that instead of reading, see if you can find audio lectures.

Umrah itself is pretty straight forward. You just need to know what is allowed and what is not in the state of EHRAAM, plus when to (where) ehraam.

Re: Umrah Guide

jst chk it

Re: Umrah Guide

All points noted, thanks alot  Will definately let u know when i have more questions. Thanks again :biggthumb:.

Re: Umrah Guide

^ IA! :) I was just a bit nervous about the crowd as i freak out in crowded places due to my claustrophobia but i recall discussing this with TLK and he assured me it won't be an issue. Also, God willingly i will be making the trip end of feburary and it won't be that crowded there at that time.

Other than that, I just want to be able to make the best out of this trip which i will iA as i have already started planning for it :).

Re: Umrah Guide

Just give your self plenty of time for every thing and inshallah crowd would not be an issue. Plus side of Umrah is that you are not bound to do anything on a specific day or specific time (unlike Hajj where rituals have day and time restrictions, so everyone is doing everything at the same time, hence too much crowd)

Re: Umrah Guide

Alright I discovered this thread just now, so my two cents:

1: The experience was WONDERFUL. It was like a spiritual reunion with my faith, a rejuvenation of it. As a Muslim, visiting the Holy Cities and specially performing Umrah is a blessing only the fortunate ones have. Its not all about having the affordability to go visit. That you could do visiting any city or place. The basic need is of refreshing one’s faith, if you get it there, thats every thing. You are going to visit in Rabi Ul Awal, its the begining of Umrah season so maybe there will be less crowd. You will be pushed less. There will be more serenity. More space to offer your prayers to your fill. Ma sha Allah. I am already so envying you. Cannot tell much about my experience because everyone’s varies. Just be careful about what your motives are and what you are looking for. And I am sure you will get what you are looking for. You may mark my words on it.

2: My worst, I couldnt do much ziyaraat. It was kind of ghar ki murgi wali bat. Husband lives there so obviously he always though I had ample time for the ziyaraat and therefore I mised even my basic ziyaraat. I managed to see the plains of Mina, arafaat, muzdalfa. The Shaitans  you will be surprised to see the shaitans though  Well obviously one confronts all of it at Hujj mostly but you can visit these places anyway. I went to the Jabl e Rehmat/Jabl e Tauba too. Its the mountain where its is said that Hadrat Adam AS’s tauba was quboolofied by Allah. Its not that high, ascending is easy and its always a holy feeling in your heart when you reach the top. My husband took me there. And since I was covering my face, wearing the hijaab and naqaab and there was oxygen deficiency at the height, I was out of breath when I reached the top I could feel how our Baba Adam and Amma Hawa must have done that. May Allah SWT raise their status even more. Ameen.

3: I have no idea about the guide books. Never consulted any. But make sure you have necessary knowledge already, and the dos and donts, before performing umrah because there are certain conditions which if not met, one has to pay “dam”. “Dam” is basically a goat sacrifice you have to make in the hudood of Haram if may God forbid there was any lapse on your part while performing Umrah. Like once you have put on Ehram and have intended for Umrah, you should not pluck your hair, shouldnt wear any fragrance, not even a fragrant soap, dont pluck even a leaf once you have entered the hudood of haram and dont get hurt and be bled. Well I am not sure about the last part because I myself had my foot hurt while I was making towards the upper floor of Safa Marwa because it was quite c rowdy on teh night of 27th Ramadan, and I got my toe nail hurt and bled. But well I didnt give the “dam” because the person from whom I asked if “dam” was wajib on me, said the blood should have been at least as much as a size of a coin. And then someone else said accidental bleeding doesn’t call for a “dam”. Well please make all these things sure so that you are not left confused.

4: What I have to tell you is PLEASE dont feel bad or complain even when you have reasons to. You will not go there again and again (May Allah will you do) but we dont know, so jut make the full use of your time there. Do ibadaat to your fill. Nawafil. Dikr. I loved to go to Masjid al Haraam late night where I could perform nawafil somewhere in the Mataaf where the Holy Kaaba stood right in front of my eyes and well, experience it and the feeling is a treasure. I would also just recite any dikr, it be durood or kalma tayyaba or even any name of Allah, sitting on the stairs and looking at the black magnificent, out of this world beauty of the Allah’s abode. I also loved to help the people who would want to drink Ab e Zam Zam by pouring the water for them from the coolers there into the glasses. Loved it. Well this and much more. Just be kind, be humane and be patient. Allah is every where but the basic purpose of every one who visits there is finding a way to get close to Him.I just pray you find that too. Ameen.

Re: Umrah Guide

Thankkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk you mirage! Your post was really very helpful :).

Now i am thinking why no threading/plucking my eyebrows and upperlip? :( And why is it even haram? And same question for fragrance? And i have a feeling i might get mixed views on this from online so the better thing would be to ask a trusted religious person?! Hmm. Thanks again!
