Umera Ahmed's Kankar

Re: Umera Ahmed’s Kankar

What’s up with these writers naming their heroines with the letter K? First Khirad, then Kashaf, now Kiran. All middle class girls who marry higher up, throw in the cliches and stereotypes and you have the same story on an endless loop.

Is there no originality left in the drama industry anymore?

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

I hope the next one will be called Kawkab or Kalmoohi.

Seems it might progress in a Humsafar-like vein with Kiran's mom and Arzoo's mom scheming to breakup the marriage....or perhaps Arzoo's mom will turn her sister against Kiran. The woman needs to be slapped silly.

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

I think the problems will he internal. He's abusive or something.

Re: Umera Ahmed’s Kankar

I like Fahad’s version of Tair e Lahooti and especially Mera Saaein 2

This overly done neat and nerdy boy look… just cant be digested :nahi:

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

its going very well.. direction is better than ZGH. I like how they have shown segmentation in family based on classes and finally they could show Sanam's family as true middle class family, they are not starving and not putting on extraordinary clothing.

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

ok so they got married.....

Re: Umera Ahmed’s Kankar

so much happened in this epi :hayaa:

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

hahaha love this! So true.

Re: Umera Ahmed’s Kankar

^do you really think those are characteristics of kiran though??

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

Fahad Mustafa! .. He is such a good actor! I think he is doing a great job and I'm looking forward to how his character will develop. Sanam Baloch is also doing a good job, but its a lil tiring to hear "ameer susral" etc etc all the time.

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

Loving ittt

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

Really good epi!

Re: Umera Ahmed’s Kankar

Why did you do that Sikander??? WHYYYYY??? :naak: I hate you now. :disgust:

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

Nobody else thinks the drama is dragging? I do. It needs to pick up its pace.

Also, I wasn't crazy about Sikander's character. It's bland. His body language ...from even before Kiran accepted his rishta...exudes a sort of smugness or haughtiness despite him making comments to his mom that it doesn't bother him that Kiran comes from a lower socioeconomic class and he has no issues with parking his luxury car in Kiran's gali, etc etc.

I liked Zaroon's character better. It was flawed, but it had more range and he exuded a charm that Sikander doesn't...the latter is pheeka. Something about Sikander's outward calm made me feel ...i dunno...I just wasn't too drawn by him. Zaroon's possessiveness and his insecurities were a result of his mom's absence and I liked that ZGH showed that from the beginning. Sikander's rage in the last episode leaves the viewer wondering where the hell did that come from....what problems in your upbringing or your parents' marriage led you to develop control issues? The only thing that comes yo mind is that his privileged upbringing made him spoiled...he was used to getting what he wanted with maybe little to zero effort....and being the only son he has always been the center of his parents' world and thus desires the same attention from Kiran. I guess that's the root psyche behind his violent outburst.

I think the name Sikander...prolly alludes to him being victorious over getting his parents to surrender to his wishes, of winning Kiran....but later on this name will be like an "irony" when he suffers loss/defeat.

Out of all the characters, I dislike Rukhsar the most....more so than Arzoo's mother who has no conscience. She's always complaining, assuming the worst of people, and can be selfish. It's clear that she hates her in-laws and I doubt that she actually loves her fiance because they don't have close interactions.....so why get so worked up over not receiving an eid ka kora from in-laws you don't even like....u just want it so you can show it off to your friends or duniya....it's not gonna make you like in-laws any better or speed up your marriage. It was stupid of to phone her husband and whine about this; she just degraded herself. The next person to tie with Rukhsar in annoyance is her mom.....who is a weak character and doesn't have her priorities right, your daughter needs to go the gym as that is more important than collecting jahez. Adnan, being the only male and head of the household, should take charge and just end the rishta once and for all.

Re: Umera Ahmed’s Kankar

I dont know about Sikander’s character but I surely have seen many Rukhsar type girls with exactly the same annoying attitude!!! :smack:

Umera Ahmed's Kankar

Okay so I wasn't watching any Pakistani dramas as of recently so I fast forwarded through this drama to catch up and see what it was all about. Kind of wished that I didn't :/

I just don't how he changed overnight? Or concealed himself until now. When he slapped her it just totally turned me off from the drama....he played a same type of role in another drama (first loves his wife madly then goes psycho on her) can't remember the name but saw it on a couple of times and woah that drama was seriously wack and depressing. Maybe it's because both had the same main male lead ....but it's starting to give off the same vibe to me. :(

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

Exactly. The change in Sikander is abrupt whilst the rest of the drama is dragging. It's not obvious in the drama that he has issues...as it was with zaroon in ZGH because the drama showed his upbringing wasn't a healthy one. In Kankar it isn't clearly shown. But still there are a few signs...subtle ones. If you look at the beginning episodes where Sikander is giving the cold shoulder to his mom and being stubborn about marrying Kiran while knowing that she had rejected him....you see a quiet arrogance to him...he does have a slight smugness.

Then you see him buying Kiran expensive clothes, jewelry, a car....all within a fairly short period of time. So he's materialistic...and seems to think that giving materialistic favors or favors in general entitles him to full control over the person...in this case Kiran. Of course his mom's comments that "bv ko itni choot mat do, itna sar par mat charhao"...may have played a role as well.

Anyone watched last night's episode?

Re: Umera Ahmed's Kankar

Yes I did! And this drama is getting interesting now.
