^thats true, but Umar Sayeed would need to kiss my feet and serve me liquid gold in a diamond goblet for me to pay 12K for a dress and customer service.
Re: Umar Sayeed
I have spoken to him a couple of times now and he seems like a really nice person and someone who will be great to work with if I decide to have him design my clothes. I didn't get any attitude or 'oh Im a hot shot designer so I will talk to you as if you're beneath me' and that's what matters to me. He's willing to work with your budget (given it's not 50,000 or 1 lakh), and since he takes VERY limited orders just like bunto, he told me he's 101 percent involved in each and every aspect of his bridals. I don't know about ya'll but my wedding/valima outfits will always be very special to me and if someone is going to be that involved and dedicated to making my clothes, I don't mind paying him the price for it. He's putting in his time, creativity and effort so why not? As for a 12k dress, if I had the money, I would go for it. We can always earn more money but not getting our wedding day back.
I found some of his bridals to be flowery and not my taste but there are other few that are downright gorgeous.
He just had a show in Bahrain along with some of the other pakistani designers. My aunt was working in the back with the designers helping the models. She said Umar Sayeed's clothes were just breathtaking. She said none of the other designers HSY, etc even came close to his designs. He had brought his new line, and told her that he dosent put any more new designs on line because people copy them. So anything you see is probably quite old. And he also told her that his price starts from about 4 lakhs. And reducing the kaam isnt going to decrease the price by much. The amount of kaam is upto you but prices are gonna be pretty much the same.
i find some of his stuff to be absolutely stunning but $12,000 for a bridal is way too much! i'd rather go buy diamonds if i had that kind of money.

LOL! I wouldn't mind paying that much for a dress but first on my list is a birkin bag. When I make my first $100mm I'll buy myself that and a few lucky girls on GS. Haha yes I know I'm hilarious. :)
Re: Umar Sayeed
I know this is a little off topic but Shay, didn't you post something a while back about his deteriorating health? On that note, how is he doing? just curious

He's recovering well =)
Re: Umar Sayeed
a bit too contemporary.....
Re: Umar Sayeed
nah..i think its the real deal..the lighting in the pictures makes it look different...
I've bought a couple of outfits from him and he's great to work with..my parents don't blv on spending much on clothes, they'd be happy if I bought a 10 tola gold bar..but for it's clothes!
He does have some breathtaking clothes.. some of them are never featured in any magazine's which is really sad! He has this gorgeous rose gharara.. with swarovski crystals.. and an entire peach and turquoise range.

Re: Umar Sayeed
Some of his stuff is really nice.......but no matter how much I like his clothes I still wouldn't pay that much money. I'm sure I can still get a very nice bridal dress made for my wedding for a lot less and still consider my wedding to be beautiful

Gina - are all these outfits on display at his studio or does he have a portfolio there?
They're on display Lara.. he has some amazing ones that I've never seen in any magazines. He has a gorgeous plum and gold Lehnga.. and very pretty pea-green one that I saw at his boutique.
I like his work, since it's all the same colored kaam and crystals.. no gold dabka and all.
What!
So totally doesnt look worth $12,000. Even if I had the money to spend that much on my wedding dress, I would not go for this, I have seen dresses costing a fraction of this price tag and looking so much more drop-dead gorgeous!
