Thank You for saying it…That has been my biggest concern with UA’s utilization…on one hand the captain and coach want UA to learn to value his wicket and play longer inning because they believe that he is great batting talent, at same time they are putting him in situations where he is bound to ruin himself as a batsman (or at least negatively affect his batting talents)….Its called Pakistani cricket politics my friend, Coach and captain are more interested in destroying someone or negatively influence someone’s career so that they can justify their own poor assumptions and statements about him.
He is the best batting talent that I have seen in Pak for a very long time. Lets compare on how Eng are treating Kevin pieterson’s lack of form, they know that they are playing on batting friendly conditions of UAE and they have Kieswetter in the squad who opens for Eng and has done that quite successfully, but they are using the easy batting conditions of UAE and letting KP get to regain his form, confidence. The difference in both cases is that KP had a coach and captain who is interested in making KP a successful performer for his team, UA is not lucky enough.
AS UA got dropped for the tests against SA in UAE, where it was said that he is out of form and is low on confidence and then later he was not given opportunity in NZ either, where he could have gotten back in form, and then again against ZIM,SL,BD and Eng test series.
Its just matter of time when some people are going to starting saying that in 2 ODI’s against ENG, UA dropped catches, batted poorly so that his brother gets a spot back into the 11, those accusations are going to be blindly believed by people who also believed on rumor (that had no proof) that UA faked an injury prior to Hobart test in 2010.
what do you think of the Misbah's handeling of UA since he has become captain since Nov 2010?
what do you think my comparison of how KP is being treated and efforts are being made to help him regain his form by Eng captain/Coach and how do you compare it with how UA has been treated?

I believe he was left out of squad for prior series/matches so he can do some soul-searching as he was throwing away his wickets after playing some decent innings. I agree that instead of sending him so late in the innings, they should send Younis out of the ODI team and give that spot to UA for few series to see if he can really learn and capitalize on that position.

so why was he sent for a scan by the management? :)
Most of the time when he come in to bat, Pakistan is already under lot of pressure. What do we expect him to learn? and if by chance Pakistan is not under pressure that only means that he gets less over to play.
^ Perhaps we should try him (Umar) at one-down. Most of the time when Umar comes in, Pakistan team is already under pressure.
Anyway, more than anyone else, today's derailment award goes to Afridi. He derailed a chase that was going in right direction :(

I agree 100%, 3 at LOI's and 4 at Test. Someone at another forum suggested that UA should bat at 6 because thats where people like Asif Iqbal, Michael Baven have been asset to their teams...But that person never responded, when I asked him if UA seems more like Asif/Bevan or Ponting/Lara/Viv kind of batsman.

Yaar Kehri soul searching? It was like a bright 4th grade school kid - who does bad on an exam and you take him out of school for next 2 years so that he can value what he had. That will sure do the kid good in short and long term!

To make sure he was allright, I fell at work three weeks ago and was sent for Xray scans immediately, I have been going through Physical Therapy sessions twice a week - is it because they want to make sure that I am all right or because they want to see if I am not being honest to them? :)

That is not a good example IMO. This is professional cricket, many players are kicked out of team if they fail to perform for sometime. Talent has to be "proven" for sometime, not for just an inning or two. It was not one match after which he was sent out of team.

Now, when did Umar Akmal get an injury? He reported an injury when his brother's spot was in jeopardy, there was no 'accident' reported to go with the injury. What was outcome of scan?

UA at the moment doesnt even seem like Asif/Bevan. It is an insult to players like Ponting/Lara and Viv to be compare him to them. Come on you can do better than that.
As for all these excuses that he is sent down the order in the first ODI he had every chance to bat through the innings and show us that he was at least 20% of Lara/Viv and Ponting. The result was as usual he got out. Having talent is one thing, putting it to wise use is another.
He should bat at 4, but he shouldnt be keeping. By forcing him to wear the gloves, we are effectively trying to cover for the incompetency of the other 5-6 so-called 'batsman' in the side.
I agree Umar hasnt fulfilled his promise, but since we arent really spoilt for choice when it comes to our batting at the moment, I would push him to number 4 and give him a long run to see if he can sink or swim. I'm hoping he can swim, because if he cant...then that would be another precious talent lost.
Umar Akmal must bat up the order. We can NOT have Azhar, Younis, Misbah playing at 3-4-5 in a limited overs match For God’s sake. That is extremely stupid!
Add Farhat to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster waiting to happen.
UA is not showing his class at all. In both ODIs he got the chance to prove his batting skills but both occasions he has disappointed. He is good player but he must be consistent.
I'm sure in last match he will score a fifty to remain in team for future ODI series.

In the second ODI he should have stayed with Misbah and Pakistan could have won the match. In the over he got out Pakistan had already scored 9 runs, more than what was required including a 4 from Akmal. What does he do - he goes for another wild swing and gets out.

Ehsan Bhai, The reason Lara/Viv and Ricky became Lara/Viv and Ricky was because their abilities were rightly utilized and their progress as batsman were not tempered with by their captain/coach.
