This seems to be a common thing emerging amongst the foreign invaders and occupiers of Iraq…

***The Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation into allegations that British soldiers have been pictured torturing an Iraqi prisoner. The photographs, obtained by the Daily Mirror newspaper, show a suspected thief being beaten and urinated on. ***](BBC NEWS | UK | Politics | UK troops in Iraqi torture probe)
*The prisoner - thought to have been a thief - had his jaw broken and his teeth smashed during an eight-hour ordeal after being arrested near the southern Iraqi city of Basra. *
Bleeding and vomiting, he was eventually driven away from the army camp, still hooded, and thrown off the back of a moving vehicle.* He was not charged with an offence and it is not known whether he lived or died. ***
*The photographs were given to the Mirror newspaper by soldiers who said the horrific treatment of prisoners was widespread and was one of the main reasons why coalition forces faced such fierce opposition in Iraq. *
*One told the newspaper: “We are not helping ourselves out there. We are never going to get them on our side. We are fighting a losing war.” *
The use of the term widespread is quite interesting, being a quote from a soldier actually in Iraq. It runs counter to what has been said by several posters on Gupshup, who have never ever set foot in Iraq, and yet who quite confidently trot out tired lines suggesting that it’s only done by a tiny minority of soldiers…

What has been leaked in the media is the tip of the iceberg, the hatred for these scums is not without any reason. The ba$tards only understand the lingo of chappal.
Exactly, what has surfaced can NOT be a lone one off incident. Allah janay how many things go unphotographed and under the carpet. I hate the military..they are without conscience. Wish i could shoot them all.
The people that abused those men will be court-marshalled I'm sure.
Even if they claim was emotional distress or temp insanity caused by the people hung from bridge incident they still deserve court-marshall and prison time.
In addition to horrible emotional distress wrecked to those prisoners who suffered humiliation, they hurt their fellow soldiers and countrymen.
I might be off base...,
but am thinking that the soldiers who had access to the prison or knew the soldiers who did the abuse had conscience enough to expose them.
Perhaps the very fact that abuse was exposed and condemned, one could perhaps conclude that honor also exists in the military and that the horrid antics of the dishonorable do not represent the whole.
Unfortunately dishonorable actions always seem to outweigh the honorable.
The mirror article shows that the people who handed over these photos were actively involved in all this, and from what one can glean from the article, it appears to be widespread.

Ravage,
Sorry... me must be dumb-dumb.
I don't get what you mean.
Amazing thing that fellow soldiers handed over the photos?
People who participated handed over photos? Why would they that?
You disagree my thinking that the soldiers who reported abuse must have had some conscience and honor?
I understand the point about being widespread. It looks like this one woman seemed to be in charge of these prison camps.
Do you think by her example other soldiers gleaned authorization to mistreat Iraqi POWS?

Im afraid we're talking in different contexts.
I was talking about the british case, where the people who turned over the photographs admit to participating in them.
Read the article in the post I quote..

Dear Ravage,
I clicked that link but I can't seem to find article. I see BBC article talking about American Abuse.
Maybe I shouldn't have made comments on this exact Topic.
I see the title pertains to British soldier... I suppose I sort of lumped the abusers together...Brit or American.
I admit to not reading the article Malik73 quotes as he writes: This seems to be a common thing emerging amongst the foreign invaders and occupiers of Iraq....
