UK Spouse Visa

Re: UK Spouse Visa

Thanks stoppit, i’ve read both. :k:

Re: UK Spouse Visa

Hi Daffy,

Actually, yes in UK they accept either of them, even though the preferred one is "General Traning", on top GT is even easier than Academic. But then again u need Band 5 for Immigration purpose, so you can take any. :)

N.B: Australia & Canada do not accept IELTS Academic of immigration purpose, they only accept GT.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

Phew! That's a relief. I am getting 16th November date for Academic one, that's the most appropriate one for me. I hope it wouldn't make a difference that I've given the academic one.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

Well given that IELTS (Academic and General Training) are listed in their official document as approved tests, I don't see how GT would be preferred? It's just harder to get the required band in.

Just do some prep for the writing part Daffy, if you want to at all. Just to see what you sort of things you have write in what kind of time frame.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

Also, just for information purposes can someone shed some light on whether birth certificates are definitely required or is it just a precaution?

The age requirement used to be 18 and passports were sufficient to show this.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

enigmatic - Just curious if u r an immigration lawyer -- bcs I need some help to with the spouse visa

Re: UK Spouse Visa

If nikaah has been done in Pakistan,do we still have to register it in our local council ???? does UK gov consider a nikaah done in pakistan as a valid marriage certificate? and is it neccessary to get it register here and having the civil ceremony too? not asking for the visa thingy?

Re: UK Spouse Visa

yes they consider it a valid marriage certification.

But if we separately have a registration in UK, how will that help us?

Re: UK Spouse Visa

How will you enter the UK to register your marraige, you need the visa to enter. Unless you are on a visiter/family visa or fiance visa then you can register in the UK, and no need for any marraige abroad. You will have marraige certificate from UK.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

You have to get stamp from union coucil on your nikah nama urdu version, then have it translated into english by a translater.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

I dont think applicants birth certificate is required. The sponsers (UK) birth certificate is required (original) and attested passport copy.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

Sponsor's birth certif is not required...only if you don't have a passport to provide attested copies.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

usually 1 to 2 years from pak

Re: UK Spouse Visa

correct, the general concensus is the sponsor can send in their long from birth certificate with a copy of their passport and there is no need for it to then be attested.

As you say if you attest sponsers passport, then no need for birth certificate.

Re: UK Spouse Visa

No i mean - once you get your spouse visa based on your local nikkah certification, is there a need to get a registration marriage event in UK? Some one was telling that you get many extra benefits if you get your registration (with a whole marriage event) there as well?

Re: UK Spouse Visa

No you dont need to, the nikah nama is accepted as a legal marraige certificate in the UK. You will enter the UK as a spose, husband or wife of your sponser. If you had nikah in the UK yu would need to register it too (in some mosques it it automatically registered)

Re: UK Spouse Visa

Daffy found this on the immigration forums:

**Let's just clarify, the marriage in Pakistan, is that recognised as a legal marriage in Pakistan?

If the answer to that is yes, then under the terms of the UK's Foreign Marriages Act 1892 the UK also recognises it as a legal marriage. So no need to get married in the UK, indeed impossible to do so because you cannot certify that you are unmarried!**

Re: UK Spouse Visa

That explains it, thanks!

Re: UK Spouse Visa

Please give me good institute for IELTS preparations. any idea

Re: UK Spouse Visa

if you are granted spose visa you and your husband will need to keep records of your living expenses and conditions for 27 months max, after 2 years you will apply for Indefinate Leave to Remain. ie a british passport, british citezenship. You will have to pass Life in Uk test within the 2 years.
