^ A comic book more truthful than President Nutjob? Ok. No comment. Obviously, some people like to live in la-la land.
Interestingly, President Nutjob's supposed "lies" about Iran's UNPROVEN nuclear ambitions are nothing when compared to PROVEN record of blatant lies from Monkeys Administration about reasons to attack Iraq.
Americans prefer comic books over truthfulness! It's obvious why America is considered the threat to world peace.
Do not mess with the British Navy. The Brits have been very patient, but do not expect there to be a third incident like this. The Iranians are due for a slapping.
Patient? Probably they were wrong...and in fact they were in Iranian waters...hence the mute response.
Wrong? According to whom? These guys have GPS locations that are accurate to within feet. The real problem is a 1975 treaty between Iran and Iraq that Iran has decided to disagree with. The seafaring community abides by the treaty, but Iran has decided it is not to their advantage, so they have declared their own sovereign territory, which no one recognizes.
The real issue here is that this was a pre-planned maneuver, right in front of the UN Security Council determination of increased sanctions. Coincidence? I think not. The Brits had their people nabbed once in 2004, now twice. The next time they will set rules of engagement that protect their people, even if it starts a war.
There will be a lot of near obsolete Iranian junk on the floor of the Gulf if they want to play these games. The entire Iranian Navy could be on the bottom in a few hours. They will soon have that choice. Modern Naval warfare happens really fast, far faster than diplomats can move.
The real pressure on Iran is oil. Oh you think, Iran holds the purse strings on that issue. Not true. Iran has enough refinery capacity to provide only half of their country with gasoline, they import the rest. Tankers full of refined products must move into Iranian ports each day, as Iran has only 10 days of gasoline stockpiled. Now, ask yourself who insures tankers going into Iran? If you guessed "Lloyds of *London", *you would be correct. Lloyds insurance rates go up 20 fold in a war zone, and most tanker companies are unwilling to risk conflict even if they can get insurance, which is not guaranteed.
When Iranians run out of gas, because Nutjob is playing silly frikkin' games, who do you think they will blame? Well, if you shove a BBC camera in front of them, they will blame the Brits. At home at the dinner table they will be plotting the demise of Nutjob. If things get really bad, Iran has nine oil refineries. Do you think those coordinates are easy to load into a cruise missile on a British ship? Iran's economy grinds to a halt for a decade if they have no gasoline refineries. Tough crap, they are holding a losing hand and they are bluffing. Overplaying their hand could put them in the stone ages.
Wrong? According to whom? These guys have GPS locations that are accurate to within feet.
The Iranians aren't on freakin' sailboats dude...and the British were on rubber dinghies.
The 1975 treaty is ruberic; and by seafearing community, I suppose you mean the UK and US?
On the other hand, the UK and US in particular have been quite bad at respecting national boundries; one needs to loon no further than the launching of Tomahawks over Pakistan w/o permission.
Hitting Iranian oil is like shooting one's self in the foot...in any case, given your approval for that strategem...then perhaps we should take Saddam's burning of Kuwati oil fields off his historic record...
So keep your moral indignation to yourself...It's like Hitler preaching world peace in the grounds of Auschwitz...
If I couldn't come up with anything else to say and had the audacity to compare someone to Hitler, I'd say the same about you. But since I can and I don't I don't, let's just say that if you were that concerned about human rights abuses, you'd be criticizing the Iranian government instead of praising it. It rings hollow and it's apparent that you praise this government (which is listed as one of the worst human rights abusers by the oft-quoted UN), just because 1) they are Muslim (shia!) and, 2) they are trying to stick it to the the evil Anglican Empire (that you benefit from). The layers of hypocrisy are dizzying.
Oh, now this is rational. These sailors are going to be tried as spies. Lovely. By all means give these idiots some nukes.
FIFTEEN British sailors and marines arrested by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards off the coast of Iraq may be charged with spying.
A website run by associates of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, reported last night that the Britons would be put before a court and indicted.
Referring to them as “insurgents”, the site concluded: “If it is proven that they deliberately entered Iranian territory, they will be charged with espionage. If that is proven, they can expect a very serious penalty since according to Iranian law, espionage is one of the most serious offences.”
The warning followed claims by Iranian officials that the British navy personnel had been taken to Tehran, the capital, to explain their “aggressive action” in entering Iranian waters. British officials insist the servicemen were in Iraqi waters when they were held.
But, common really. What else can they charge them for? A foreign force (boats and all) in what you claim is your pond? It's the only logical charge they have.
Nice, the infinitely reasonable Iranians. Don't they have a history with hostages? I say send in 300 Spartans and get rid of the entire Revolutionary Guard.
Also send in the hollywood jews to see if they can turn mythology into reality...
I just love how the manly Iranians are picking on a 23 year old girl, having her write letters, supposedly admitting their transgressions. The British troops are taught to not just give their "name rank and serial number", but to be practical when captured. This woman is going to get released and denounce everything, and the Iranians are going to look very stupid.
^^ Iran and Iranians are punks. Europeans are not reacting harsh enough towards Iran. If Iran kills these 15 soldiers then maybe it will send a jolt to Europe that Iran is a dangerous state which needs to be dealt with.

Big men manipulating a woman for their own gain.
I suppose they could have striped them naked, piled them on top of each other, let a few dogs loose, tie electric wires to them and than taken the pics. That would have been keeping line with the BIG MAN image of American soldiers in action.
Abu Graib was horrible, and an absolute embarrassment to the US military and the US.
But, this is hostage taking. Pure and premeditated. Not some collection of Army Reserve Jerks acting like idiots. This is a sanctioned grab of sailors from the open ocean, fully endorsed by Tehran. Picking on the woman in the group is pathetic and unmanly.
I think soon, the British Navy should start turning around Gasoline Tankers going into Iranian ports. About two weeks of that, and we will see what the Iranian public thinks of this little gambit.
