Re: UK .. Questions ... so
A) Atleast 700 £ per week ! Ideally 400 to 500 £ per day !
B) Sure you can !
Re: UK .. Questions ... so
So then something like £ 1000-1500 per week is a good pay and even one partner can support the family with this?
Re: UK .. Questions ... so
Should be - I see no reason , why a family of two can't live comfortably on 1000 quids a week ! Mortgaging a house , then it could be little difficult but else then that , it is grand !
Re: UK .. Questions ... so
Depends on what area you live in.
in London for instance housing, food and other costs are very expensive. In other parts they aren't.
Depends what cars you have, how big your house is, how much you spend on food, bills etc. Its vastly different from everyone else.
If you're earning say £22,000 a year you can squeeze through for two people in the North, I've personally seen people do it with decent housing. You'll have to be careful on what you spend though. In London that isn't good enough. Anything below 1500 or say 1300 a month and its too tight for two people.
And yes 1000 a week is big big pay, that's 4k a month which is huge!
Re: UK .. Questions … so
Then anywhere above £3000 per month is good enough for a couple depending on where they live. If they live in Central or West, assuming they use the public transport, then its tight money else good enough. :k:

£3000 is more than good enough ![]()
As for savings if you keep your expenditures reasonable then you can make decent savings
Re: UK .. Questions ... so
When I was on 16k we were living
When I was on 19k we were living
When I was on 20k we were living
When I was on more we were living
And so on
However, now I'm on X amount ... I can't think that living on the amount I was on three years ago is possible any more ...
The fact is that your lifestyle reflects your income ... as your income changes so does the lifestyle
If living with parents, who don't need your cash, and they pay for the bills then one can live on 16k as a couple plus state benefits and be quite happy.
If both are earning then each need to earn about 10k each to make it good one ... Council housing can be rented at £300 per month ... for a 3 bed house.
If you want private housing ... then some places will be more and others less ... around £1000 to £1500 is the expected rent to pay per month.
After taxes a decent amount to spend in a month is between £800 - £2800 per month depending on the services you use ... high end groceries or low end, car or no car ... public transport or walking/cycling ...
(Before tax) Average Income in the UK is around £20k per annum mode average and £35k per annum mean average ... The 95 percentile ranges between £12k - £150k per annum ... which basically means 2.5% of the UK people earn less than £12k and 2.5% of UK people earn more than £150k per annum ...
The lower figures are per person incomes ... mostly lower earning couples will BOTH be working to get a better household income. People with average qualifications with average jobs can make a decent income if both of the couple are working.
There are about 10% of people who don't earn a penny and are on state benefits, on the streets or living with parents.
Living in the South on a mortgage, on a single person income then the earning needs to be at least £50k per annum or you are unlikely to get a mortgage ...

May be on the private sector, but if it is assured short hold tenancy - then apart from Studio flats or 2 bed apartments, you will not get 3 bed houses in Greater London for that amount ...
Re: UK .. Questions ... so
DD - you wait , some one is soon going to open a thread in life one discussing ' how do you feel about women , who boast about their husbands' pay ' :D
Re: UK .. Questions … so
And who mentioned their husband’s pay here?

He must be talking about areas like Neasden , Ealling Broadway and southfields

well for a Gross pay of £ 36,000 - you would be paying around 5 to 6 k yearly tax ... this aint much :)
Re: UK .. Questions ... so
£3000 was a rough idea, people. As per comments, even £2000 would be good to go salary for a couple in London. bravo!
Re: UK .. Questions ... so
Renting properties takes a big cut. If you're getting around £1000.00 a week, even after tax, thats a really decent amount. If you're really struggling with rent, then there's always Housing Benefit which you can apply for, and you can claim for help from the DWP (if you're eligible).
It also depends where you live, living in London costs a LOT more than living outside of it, rent (and house) prices have a big difference according to areas.
You'll barely get a studio flat at around £600-700, in some places it;s even more (cos of area zones and stuff) - trust me, I work in a housing department and we deal with this stuff a lot.
I think you'd need to have either both partners working, or something on around £25K plus to get by on living here. I think it also depends on your standard costs on food, bills, clothes etc etc which really does add up to a lot.
