Re: UK hospital introduced world's first burqa-style hospital gowns
I believe in giving credit where credit is due...This is a good step in the right direction...
Muslims come in all shapes and sizes...One Muslim's actions does not affect the lifestyle of the other Muslim and if it does, then there is definitely something...No one is the keeper of another...
We have Muslims who hold their honour, dignity and respect above everything while we also have Muslims who would prostitute their own women for some gain...
We may have Muslims who believe that a brothel close to their house gives the whole locality a bad name, especially if their mothers, sisters and daughters pass through the same streets visited by the clientèle of the brothel who may look at them lasciviously...While on the other hand we may have brothel owning Muslims who look at their detractors as Muslims who interfere in their lives...
It all comes down to choices and the impact it may have upon society or others...While I am a firm believer in guarding modesty as prescribed in Islam and view a Muslim woman going on a date with a stranger or a beer chugging guy as giving a bad name to Muslims, someone might consider it as giving Muslims a positive image...
For me such a scenario, that would be tantamount to seeing a Buddhist monk having sex or a Hindu roasting a cow...It would a give bad impression of both religions as it contradicts the tenets of these two faiths...And if some of us, who have a basic knowledge of both faiths, were to ask the believers of the respective religions why they went against the basic tenets of their faith and if they were to reply, 'Oh, it's not important, it's a choice'...Would you respect that person? Would you respect the religions that these two professed to follow? You gauge the sincerity of a person's faith and the importance of the religion he follows by how its adherents follow it...
Then there may be those who are firm believers in debauchery and accepting everything that comes their way as 'it's OK'...Homosexuality is OK, drinking is OK, pre marital sex is Ok e.t.c....While someone might consider this aspect of being a Muslim as OK, I would condemn it and consider this giving Islam and Muslims a bad name...
So, it boils down to choices...I consider this a laudable proposition by the Brits and have great respect for my sisters who observe the Hijab or the Niqab...It is their choice to do with their lives as they please and if someone makes their choice of following their religion easier, then kudos to them...
