Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!! :flower1: :rotato:

There’s not very many Desis where I live.

The other day I went to a Desi area, it was so cool, the atmosphere was electric… LOVED IT!!

I walked through a market and it was like being in the home land… Paan stalls, smell of samosas and pakoras, brightly colored desi fabrics, sound of qawaali and bhangra, it was like awesome..

Not to mention Desi eye candy everywhere!

I so wanna move.

Re: UK cities with the highest South-Asian population

London, West-Midlands or Yorkshire it is. :)

Re: UK cities with the highest South-Asian population

Thanks again Deeba...

Do you know of any nice quite, non-racist, majority-white (prefrably old biddy) areas in proximity to Birmingham or Bradford?

London would have been nice but I imagine it would be quite expensive.

I don't want to live in an actual Desi area but just be close to it for shopping, chilling, relaxing etc.

Re: UK cities with the highest South-Asian population

Don't know that much about the midlands, sorry, I'm from down south.. are u planning on moving?

I know what u mean tho, apart from my Mum I've never seen a hijabi in my town and I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen any desis in our little patch of Essex (still v.near London tho)

Hey, I can help you out with the Birmingham area, south Birmingham is best for the kind of area you're looking for. You get the best of both worlds...nice surburban areas in close proximity to good Asian shops and restaurants

I live in a non Desi area but it's close enough to the main Asian roads for food and shopping. Look into areas like Edgbaston, Moseley, Harborne...they're lovely places.

If you want to go just outside of Birmingham then Solihull and Sutton Coldfield are fantastic as well, you would just have to travel a bit more to get to the Asian areas. I can't say much for north Birmingham as I've never lived there but I wouldn't recommend it, there are some pretty rough areas in the north of Birmingham. I'd avoid places like Saltely, Handsworth, Lozells, Nechells.

Hope that helps! :)

Down south would have been my first choice because it's so multi-ethnic and vibrant, my maternal family live there and the weather is somewhat better...

...But the houses are far too expensive down there. :(

My heart is set.

Birmingham area sounds ideal, it's in the middle so I'm pretty much the same distance from any other areas I might want to visit for party sharty.

Are there any areas which have a handful of educated and civilised yet Paki (preferably Dehati, even better if Pathan) people?

I could get along with everyone and anyone but it's for my parents.

Edgbaston, Moseley, Harborne... Do these places have any Desis? I would be quite comfortable in an all white area as long as they were nice-pleasent-old types not racist-young-yobs but my parents would want 1-2 Desi families about in the area for talking about Pakistani politics, gossiping and chai-shai.

Re: UK cities with the highest South-Asian population

Which UK county has the highest population of South-Asians?

Is there a list for counties aswell like the one you posted for cities?

Obviously Greater-London would be top of the list but what about after that?

and there’s like

5000 pakistanis in ireland in total :rotfl:

Re: UK cities with the highest South-Asian population

yuuuuuuuuuuuuk.....i would never want to live in a desi neighbourhood in england....

I visited luton few years back coz my cousin lives there.

I went out with him to buy something my cousin was wearing Chelsea shirt there was a GORA with his son started talking talking to us about football suddenly he asked my coz you know what the capital of Pakistan he said ya its Islamabad ,He goes no my friend its LUTON
:bizz:

I want to live in close proximity to a majority Desi area, not actually in a majority Desi area.

I wouldn't want to live in a majority Desi area either, not because it's Desi but because most Desi immigrants to the UK were poor so they settled in cheap rough areas and their offspring have sadly picked up the yobbish/druggy/gangster ways of the trash that already resided there...

You reasons and my reasons for not living in Desi areas are completely different though, you're just an infeiority complexed, ashamed and self-loathing coconut (brown outside, white at heart).

Remember one thing though mate, no matter how much anilingus you perform, you will always be a "Paki!".

Our community has its problems but it is our community and no matter what we do we can never run away from that, I tried but realised that I will never ever be completely accepted anywhere else no matter how much I compromise, no matter how much I change...

Our community might be fcuked but so is every other community, we can't run away from our identity but we can do something to improve/change our community.

LOL

I found this joke on a website..

The Paki’s Prayer… “Our Father who art in Bradford, Patel be thy name, Thy curry come, Thy stinging bum, On earth as it is in Rochdale, Give us this day our daily naan, And forgive us our smell, And help those that hold our smell against us, For thine is the prayer mat: The Nissan Almera, For ever & ever. AHMED”

:rotfl:

Are they a lot of apne in Rochdale?

Yup, Edgbaston, Moseley and Harborne are nice suburban areas that are predominantly white but there’s definitely quite a few asians around. I’ve never experienced racism in Birmingham but areas like Kings Norton and Chelmsley Wood are full of ignorant chavs so it might be a good idea to avoid those places.

I have no idea what dehati is but I think quite a few pathans live in the Alum Rock area…but that’s a largely desi area and you said you didn’t want to live in a desi area.

Btw, where are you moving from?

Don’t worry…we wouldn’t want you here anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Lol actually Luton is a predominantly Bangladeshi area…but I wouldn’t expect any Chelsea fan to have the IQ to know the difference between a Bangladeshi and a Pakistani.

Oh, I’d avoid Rochdale like the plague

Re: UK cities with the highest South-Asian population

sparkhill/small heath/balsall heath/edgbaston/moseley....all these names are attached to a high population of asians....if u've been watching the news the u'd know there's so much improvement in the balsall heath area coz of the pm or soemthing like tht....moseley/egdbastons quite a nice area i guess

if possible, can u tell me more abt chelmsley please?

@ syraa

Shut UP !! he wasn’t a Chelsea fan I am !!!

an I think you are just jealous coz we won premiership :mocking:

Yeah, Sparkhill, Ballsall Heath and Small Heath definitely have a high population of Asians…hardly any other ethinicity lives in those areas. I wouldn’t say Moseley and Edgbaston was highly populated with Asians though…there’s a few around but I’d still say they were both predominantly white areas. Tbh, they’re ideal areas to live in…

I haven’t been there many times but my friend who used to live there said that it wasn’t exactly the friendliest place to live in if you weren’t white.

haha! I just reread your post. So, you’re the Chelski fan? I should have known :nahi:

p.s. Oh yeah I’m really jealous, it took you 4 years and millions upon millions of pounds to win the premiership. And you still haven’t won the Champions League yet even with the help of your Russian sugar daddy. I’m green with envy I am! :stuck_out_tongue:
