This topic is about the idea of homosexuality being promoted in a society which is muslim and this lead to obvious clash of ideas.
the criteria which people using is not majority or minority either, it is whatever allah(swt) and prophet(saw) requires of them the people will follow that, even if they in minority.
example if 98% of people decided kick out all non muslims out of country this is not allowed under islam which says you have to give non muslims security and protection and their rights.
If by "promoting" you mean Americans are trying to turn heterosexuals into homosexuals, then no, no one is trying to turn anyone into a homosexual. America cant snap its fingers and suddenly your attracted to the dude next to you. I mean its ridiculous to say the least. I should think something as obvious as that would be something you could grasp. I mean the this refrain of "America is PROMOTING homosexuality" is so ignorant and stupid, its amazing people actually believe such nonsense.
No this isn't about "promoting" gay sex, as some simpletons on the forum have apparently assumed. Its about promoting tolerance of others.
Islam itself is open to interpretation. No one but the original author can tell us truly which interpretation if any is valid.
Your example is correct, however, where people differ is in the specifics of what those "rights" are. Security and protection is open to definition and interpretation. There are those that think the Blasphemy law in Pakistan is a holy cow, to which any opposition constitutes and attack on Islam itself, whereas the sane will see that its nothing more then an excuse to persecute the Non Muslims (and Muslims alike).

from my understanding allah(swt) made all humans and gave people the choice to do right or wrong.
all humans have instinct to have relationship, in secular countries it is pushed you can have relationship with opposite sex, same sex, animals and worse:
In islamic society they will teach the way to fulfill this instinct is to get married with opposite sex and have halal relationship.
so depending on your upbringing and society it will have big effect on how you behave in my view.

^ I used to doubt whether homosexuality was a choice or natural; After finding out one of my colleagues was one, knowing how good a person he is and how good a family he comes from (he is American, not Indian origin) I concluded it had to be natural. After that I have talked to him quite openly about it - he said the amount difficulties they have to deal with on a day to day basis, it just wouldn't be worth it as a matter of choice.
I will take your word for it that Quran frowns upon it - it is simply very incorrect and unfair - what choice do gays borne into muslim households have then?

It is a choice nobody born homosexual, some people will say giving zakat is unfair or praying 5 times a day is too much or not drinking alcohol is unfair but we accept islam fully not only the parts we personally like.

^ well you say nobody is born gay - that's what I used to think too. Until I came across the case I have cited earlier in this thread. It is simply not true that they are born gay!
