Well, it was pompous talk. But now Americans are coming to senses. They want to get out of Afghanistan now. And they are now ready to talk to Taliban with or without Afghan government.
This quick departure may result in resurgence of Talibanic extremism in Afghanistan and Pakistan. That is the worry.

The US can afford to have Taliban government in Afghanistan, but Afghan people and Pakistan can’t. Taliban’s success in Afghanistan will result in increase of pressure of Talibanic extremism on Pakistan as well.

Ah so you admit that the Taliban were indeed the enemy. And it took you only one week to learn you can’t rewrite history. A lesson well learned me thinks.
