Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Current delegates count

659 - Obama

623 - Hillary

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Talha where are you getting this number from?

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

McCain takes a real dominating lead in the Republican race while Hillary gets CA and NY but since the delegates are split up and Obama grabbed a lot of small states things remain pretty much even and the race remains neck and neck.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

MSNBC. At least, that's what they were projecting.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Obama won the most states tonight :)

Obama: Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Utah

**Clinton: **Arizona, Arkansas, California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee

New Mexico is still up for grabs!

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

^ Are we still talking about the US Primaries?

In any case, while Republican race seems about settled in the favor of McCain, Dem race is anything but. And this race will go on to the bitter end. For the first time, it seems Clinton campaign is running short on money. Clintons have lended their own $5m to the campaign in the month of January. Some senior staffers in Clinton campaign have agreed to go without pay for a month, and Clinton now wants more debates with Obama to get free media. Obama raised $32m in Jan and his campaign is going full steam. They have more money and some of the states that are coming up now can be heavily influenced by black vote, that Obama consistently leads. Clinton did win California, but the delegates are divided proportionately for Democrats, so Clinton's advantage in California delegates is only about 30. Unlike Republicans where winner-takes-all.

So, the all important delegate count is still neck-and-neck between Obama and Clinton. I don't think this race will be decided before March 4th. It may go all the way to the convention with no candidate having a clear lead.

Clinton-Obama ticket seems unlikely, though Dems will like nothing better.

McCain-Huckabee ticket seems to make a lot of sense. Conservatives are not voting for McCain and that must be a big problem for his campaign. Getting Huckabee on the ticket will solve this issue.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Obama has a nice batch of weekend state contest ahead of him and may take the lead in delegates come Sunday and the $ is flowing, over $5 million brought in via online in less 24 hours after S. Tuesday.

Huck as VP reminds me of a Quyle pick, sure he's got the fundies in the south voting for him but the ammunition he gives the Dems could be enough to drag McCain down. I would be frighten if he was a heartbeat away from becoming the President which is a real possibility being how old McCain is.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

McCain has all but locked up the Republican nomination with Romney withdrawing from the race.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

GOP's pretty clear, McCain can be seen as the nominee.

It's the Democrats that are hard to predict right now.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

think Ron Paul should drop out and endorse Obama. Anti-war, more libertarian than mccain or huckabee. not just for the support but the money

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Obama sweeps the contests today taking Louisiana, Nebraska, Washington, and the Virgin Islands and takes a slight lead in delegates but remains in a virtual tie with Clinton for the nomination. Sunday Maine goes to vote and on Tuesday, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia have their contests March 4th is now the biggest date with contests in Ohio and Texas going who combined make up over 350 delegates.

Huckabee took Kansas and Louisiana but is still 500+ delegates behind McCain.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Tired and weary of war masses voting for McCain’s is a surprise, who will lead them into yet another war, which will likely require a military draft. That’s exactly what you would expect from a man endorsed by Jew-liani and Terminator.

And actually why not?! Interesting prediction by the Nobel prize winner: Doris Lessing.
